Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort

Halloween at California Adventure!

For 2017, there will be even more Halloween fun as the decorations make their way to California Adventure, where Oogie Boogie rises over the entrance and Haul-O-Ween takes over Cars Land!


The Disneyland Resort in Southern California goes all out for their 'Halloween Time' celebration! When entering Disneyland Park, you will be greeted with by the famous ‘Mickey Planter’ as it’s transformed into a canvas of pumpkins and even Mickey is wearing a mask for the celebration. You'll see oversized pumpkin versions of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy on display.

Main Street will be the site of the "Pumpkin Festival".

In Town Square there's the 12 foot high Mickey ‘jack-o-lantern’ complete with pumpkin ears. Main Street USA also features over 300 carved pumpkins on display in the shop windows. Colorful orange and yellow bunting will adorn the Victorian architecture. Surrounding the ‘Partners’ statue of Walt and Mickey will be pumpkins inspired by Disney characters.

The Haunted Mansion has been transformed into a Tim Burton ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ theme.  If you’ve never seen the Haunted Mansion Holiday make sure to include it in your plans this holiday season, you won’t be sorry!

Disneyland offers a Halloween fireworks show!  "Halloween Screams" that features Jack Skellington as the show's host. The characters will have a different look when they join in the spirit of the season and appear in their Halloween costumes. Of course, the Disney Villains will be out in full force at both parks to celebrate their favorite time of year.

Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland park


Mickey’s Halloween Party' is held at Disneyland Park. This ‘private’ party begins September 20 and is open only to special ticket holders and the great part is anyone can purchase tickets. 

Halloween Screams Fireworks Spectacular, the Frightfully Fun Parade, familiar attractions including Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and Haunted Mansion Holiday, music, treat stations for the little ones, creepy crafts and your favorite Disney characters in their favorite costumes are just a few activities available during the party. You never know who you’ll run into on these special nights, oh, and don’t forget to wear your Halloween costumes!

Guests are allowed into Disneyland Park three hours prior to the start of Mickey's Halloween Party. NEW FOR 2017, guests may also visit California Adventure during the three hours before the party!


Frightfully Fun Parade

The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow leads fun parade featuring characters from the Haunted Mansion, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, plus other Disney Villains, including Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog.

Halloween Screams Fireworks Spectacular

Halloween Screams is exclusive to Mickey's Halloween Party and will light up the sky each night.

Special Halloween Photo Locations

Guests will be able to meet some scary favorites like Stormtroopers in Tomorrowland or Jack Skellington in New Orleans Square.  As always, you'll be able to meet your favorite Disney and Pixar characters. NEW FOR 2017, your admission to Mickey's Halloween Party includes complimentary PhotoPass!

Mickey’s Hide-and-Go-Treat Trails

This year there will be new trick-or-treat locations to explore, including areas of the park that guests haven't had a chance to explore before. Disneyland is estimating that they will be giving out close to a half million sweet and healthy treats during the 14 nights of Mickey's Halloween Party this year. Treats include apple slices, carrots, raisins, dried fruit and of course variety of chocolates. Check your map for locations.

Haunted Mansion Holiday

The Haunted Mansion has been transformed into a Tim Burton ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ theme.  If you’ve never seen the Haunted Mansion Holiday make sure to include it in your plans this holiday season, you won’t be sorry!

Halloween Screams -Fireworks!

Again this year, Disneyland offers a Halloween fireworks show! Halloween Screams features Jack Skellington as the show's host who is joined by other classic Disney Villains.  Flames, fireworks and music all come together to make this a don't-miss show.  And...again this year, Halloween Screams is only present during Mickey's Halloween Party.


Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy

Once again this year, Space Mountain is transformed into Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy! Move through space and experience surprises around every corner. The spooky special sound track and sound effects add to this must do for the Halloween season!

Main Street Pumpkin Festival

Costumed Characters

Keep your eyes open because you never know who you will see, but will you recognize them? Your beloved Disney Characters will be dressed up in their best costumes and Disney Villains will be out in full force. Don't forget your camera!

Be on the lookout on Main Street, at the Haunted Mansion Holiday, in Fantasyland and at the Halloween Carnival!

Halloween Treats

Special Halloween Treats will be available throughout the park. Goodies available include Silly Halloween Carmel Apples, Pumpkin Muffins topped with Cream, Mickey Halloween Cookies, Hot Carmel Apple Cider and Pumpkin Cheesecake! You can also find exclusive Haunted Mansion treats at The French Market and Cafe' Orleans!  If you have a taste for Popcorn, Outdoor Vendor's will be selling a special Haunted Mansion Holiday Bucket and Halloween Scoop. This is not the time to start your diet!


Disney California Adventure

Disney California Adventure is also getting into the Halloween ‘spirit’ this year!

Buena Vista Street


The entrance to California Adventure will feature Oogie Boogie looming over the turnstiles. Bats will swarm around the Carthay Circle Theater and a statue of the Headless Horseman is set to appear on Buena Vista Street.

Cars Land Haul-O-Ween

New for 2017, the residents of Radiator Springs decorate the town...and themselves...for Haul-O-Ween.


Mater's Junkyard Jamboree will become Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters will turn into Luigi's Hockin' Haul-O-Ween.


Even the shops and restaurants will get into the fun with Fillmore's Jack-Oil Lanterns, Flo's Spider-Car and Witchy Miss Lizzie's.

World of Color

Visiting the the Disneyland Resort during Halloween Time is also the perfect time to view Disney's nighttime water spectacular, World of Color.


Knott’s Berry Farm

Knott's Scary Farm is a chilling Halloween experience that puts you right in the middle of your worst nightmare, or is it?  Billed as the oldest, one of the biggest and the ‘scariest’, is not for the weak at heart or younger children.  Little spooks, goblins and princesses will enjoy ‘Camp Spooky Halloween Treasure Hunt’ on weekend through October. Crafts, attractions and fun are offered for the smaller children in your family.

Universal's Halloween Horror Nights is one of the scarier Halloween events in Southern California.  With several terrifying mazes plus the "Terror Tram", there's sure to be something to frighten everyone.

Saturdays in October
Legoland presents ‘Brick-or-Treat’.  During regular daytime hours, Legoland features enormous Lego pumpkins, Trick or Treating, a Brick or Treat Trail with themed Lego spooky houses (not really that spooky) and a costume contest for the kids.

Six Flags Magic Mountain presents 'Fright Fest’.  Another EXTREME Halloween experience that includes roaming zombies, haunted mazes, and dark rides on some of Six Flags scariest coasters.  Some attractions are not for everyone but, younger kids will enjoy Halloween crafts, stage shows and games at Bugs Bunny World’s, ‘Twick or Tweat’.
