Which Disney parks around the world have you visited:
WDW
Date of first Disney Trip: October 1996
# of Disney Trips: 4 (soon to be 5!)
First Disney Attraction and reaction to it: Snow
Whites Scary Adventures was the first Disney
Attraction that we did. I rode it with my then 3 and
6 year old DDs and they were SCARED, SCARED, SCARED.
I remember telling them to just close their eyes, and
that it would be over soon. Guess I was a bit disappointed
that I had to comfort my kids on their first Disney
ride. But everything got A LOT better when we did our
SECOND Attraction - The Legend of the Lion King Show
- now THAT was a lot of fun for all of us!
Fav. Park and why: It is a toss up
between the Magic Kingdom because it is just everything that
IS Disney and MGM because I love the shows there -
Hunchback, Muppets 4-D, The Little Mermaid, etc.
Fav. Attraction and why: Gosh this is hard! I
am not a thrill rider and I like most of
the shows. I think that one of my favorite attractions
is the the Muppets 4-D. I love this attraction starting
at the entrance to the building, to the pre-show area,
to the pre-show film, to the Old Guys in the Balcony -
We entered a contest...and we LOST!!! Guess I just
love the Muppet humor and the 3-D effects were GREAT
and LOTS of FUN!!!
Fav. Show and why: Hunchback of Notre Dame
- I think that this is a Broadway caliber show condensed
into 30 minutes!!! The story, the music and especially
the acting never fail to move me to tears.
Fav. Resort and why: I have only stayed
at the All Stars and Ft. Wilderness, so I will tell
you my thoughts on both of them and I will also tell
you the Resort that I would choose if I had the money
to spend. I really would recommend Ft. Wilderness to
anyone who has a family of more than 4 and likes
a lot of privacy. At Ft. Wilderness, you lose the excitement
of staying at hotel, but it is QUIET, PRIVATE, and
has all the things that a family would want - including
a full kitchen which comes in handy even when you dont
want to really cook. There is also full maid service. The
boat launch to the MK is wonderful too. We really liked
the All Stars because the PRICE is right (for a WDW
resort), and because it is nothing less than what we
are used to having when we stay in a hotel with our
family. The pools were close-by and fun and we used
the Food Court, which had a nice variety of foods, a
lot. We also used the refillable mugs - they are great
souvenirs and paid for themselves. I guess if push came
to shove and I HAD to choose FW or the All Stars, I
would choose the All Stars based on fun and convenience.
Now I have only visited a few other resorts - mostly
from the outsides - The Contemporary, the Grand Floridian,
The Poly, the Boardwalk, and the Yacht and
Beach. If I had someone ELSEs money to spend :-D I
think that I would choose the Boardwalk, because it
reminds me of ocean vacations.
Fav. Restaurant and why: Being a Budget-minded
person, I have not gone to that many sit-down places,
so I will tell you my favorite Counter Restaurant and
my favorite sit-down place. My favorite Counter Service
Restaurant is Pecos Bills in Frontierland in the MK.
Yes, it is a Burger and Fries place, but the Toppings
Bar for the Burgers cant be beat with sauteed mushrooms
and onions, and the like. It raises Pecos Bills
above the rest. Our Favorite Sit-Down Meal was
probably at the 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian.
Now this was in 1996, so I am not sure if things are
the same now. When we went there,
we had Mickey and Minnie as our Host and Hostess. There
was GREAT character interaction. The food was delicious
too! I remember having prime rib and of course, there
was a kids buffet. Being able to be in the atmosphere
of the Grand Floridian was
wonderful and just enough for our everyday family!
:-) We also got to watch the Water Parade from the shore
of the GF after our meal - it made for a very memorable
evening!
Fav. Snack at WDW: What Else? Mickey Ice Cream
Bars (I would bet anything that they are made by Dove.)
I have one a day on each of our visits.
Fav. Disney Tip: If you wont tell anyone :-D,
we think that the best Parade at the MK is at Pecos
Bills in Frontierland. You have to arrive early and
stake out your spot at the wall of the veranda in the
back of the restaurant. Then send in family members
to buy
dinner (or lunch), enjoy your meal, and visit with your
neighbors while you are waiting. It is a great place
to see any MK parade and a great way to wait for it.
I also found that when watching a parade, if you are
not obnoxious, but wave and call to the characters,
- Hi Peter Pan! - that you can often get
their attention, a special wave, and sometimes even
a visit. Also, when you are going into any show that
has a pre-show with doors on the side of the auditorium,
be sure to try to stand towards the front of the pre-show
area but towards the MIDDLE of the room (not right by
the doors) so that when the doors are open to admit
you to the auditorium, you can be in the middle of any
row.
Fav. Disney Magical Moment/ Most Memorable Experience:
I think that one of the things that I will always
think of when I think about a WDW vacation is the Spectomagic
parade. The spectical, the music and the MAGIC of this
parade is just so Disney to me. We had several characters
from this parade visit with our kids and I guess having
Mary Poppins shake MY hand and saying, Isnt this just
Lovely, was just
magical to me. |
