Which Disney parks around the world have you visited:
Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line
Date of first Disney Trip: All I remember is that they still had ticket books the first couple of times I went...
# of Disney Trips: Disneyland - Many, Walt Disney World - 2 or 3, Disney Cruise Line - 1
First Disney Attraction and reaction to it: I was really too young the first time that I went on the attractions to recall now which one was first.
Fav. Park and why: Animal Kingdom. First, you must understand that I'm not a big zoo fan, I find most zoos far too confining for the animals. Animal Kingdom, however, is a lovely relaxed place where the animals are so well treated that I suppose it would be their equivalent of winning the lottery. I love th relaxed pace of this park - although I can't imagine going to it during the summer when it's really crowded. Yes, it could do with a few more rides, but it's only been open for a couple of years...
Fav. Attraction and why: My favorite ride in the world is the Storybook Boat Rides in Disneyland. Maybe it's just the little kid in me going, "look, dollhouses," or maybe it's that it's one of the original DL rides (stemming from Walt's ove of scale railways), but I just love this ride.
Fav. Show and why: The Enchanted Tiki Room - Under New Management. I liked the old version of this show, but I think the new version is really funny. I may offend the purists, but I like the fact that they are updating stuff like this.
Fav. Resort and why: I've only ever stayed at the Caribbean Beach, but I bought (sight unseen) at Boardwalk Villas, since I expect to be going back to WDW a lot in the next 42 years. I like the idea of being as central as the Boardwalk resort is and having a lot of options each day, since I like to adapt my vacation plans to the mood I'm in when I get up in the morning.
Fav. Restaurant and why: This is a tie for me:
1) Palos on the Cruise line. I like really good restaurants, and this one is delightful. The food is relatively diverse, the service is excellent, and you can't beat the view or the price!
2) Club 33. I love the elegance of this restaurant (and the fact that most people can't get in), the service, the food, the bathrooms. And you get into the park for free!
Fav. Snack at WDW: Whatever I've brought with me (I guess I just don't like spending $$ on snacks, though it sounds like I gotta at least try the Dole Whip).
Fav. Disney Tip: Use refillable mugs if you're staying at an onsite resort that offers them, pack your own snacks, drink lots of water. Can you tell I like to save my money for important things like sericels & serious nights out?
Fav. Disney Magical Moment/ Most Memorable Experience: On our first day at WDW (as an adult, I only dimly remember it from childhood), we were being driven back from the Magic Kingdom and the bus driver started the whole bus singing. He then started asking trivia questions (do you know the name of Donald's sister?), promising a trip to Animal Kingdom to muck out the elephant stalls for those who got it wrong. He was wonderful, involving both children and parents. I hope someone else got his name & sent in a commendation, because I was too jet lagged.
Words of Wisdom: Don't stress about not seeing everything at the park(s). You're not going to (Unless you're Pete & willing to devote 18+ hours/day for 30 days, and even then, I'll bet he misses *something*). Disney is such a magical place, that whatever you *do* see will be wonderful, as long as you're not spoiling it by wondering if you can squeeze in more rides/shows/whatever.
