Harlem Gospel Choir at Disney Hollywood Studios
November 30 - December 25, 2007. 5:00, 6:00 and 7:30pm
The Harlem Gospel Choir is performing three shows nightly at the Beauty and The Beast Theater inside MGM…er…Disney Hollywood Studios (someday I’ll get that to stick).
The show is approximately 25 – 30 minutes long and consists of familiar Christmas carols and Gospel classics and the stage is set with Christmas trees and a beautiful wreath.
The choir consists of 7 members and each has a nice singing voice in his/her own right, however, as a group they seem to pull back a bit and their voices don’t blend as well as it seems they should.
While I was greatly anticipating this event, I was a bit disappointed to find that it’s only a seven member group. I was expecting a much larger choir. I was also a bit put off by them referring to themselves as “The World Famous Harlem Gospel choir”.
This is a pleasant way to spend a half hour but it’s not something I’d give up an extra ride on Rockin’ Roller Coaster to see.
We went to the second show on opening night and the theater was less than half filled when the show started. By the end of the show, I’d say approximately half of those there at the beginning had already left.
Stick with the Candlelight Processional at Epcot.
