Cast Announced for Live-Action Adaptation of ‘Artemis Fowl’

Walt Disney Studios has just announced the initial casting for their upcoming live-action adaptation of Artemis Fowl. The film’s director is Kenneth Branagh who will co-produce along with Judy Hofflund.

In his onscreen debut, Ferdia Shaw, chosen from 1,200 candidates, will play the 12-year old Artemis. In the film, Artemis is a “genius who finds himself in a battle of strength and cunning against a powerful, hidden race of fairies who may be behind his father’s disappearance.”

Josh Gad will play Mulch Diggums, “a kleptomaniacal dwarf who works for the fairies.”

Academy Award winner Judi Dench will play Commander Root who is the “leader of the fairy police force.”

Lara McDonnell will play Captain Holly Short, the elf hero and Nonso Anozie will play Butler, Artemis’s bodyguard.

The live-action adaptation of Artemis Fowl is “based on the bestselling book series by Eoin Colfer with a screenplay by award-winning playwright Conor McPherson.”



Artemis Fowl is set to hit theatres on August 9, 2019!
