On Thursday evening, the Navy SEAL Foundation awarded Disney CEO Bob Iger with the Patriot Award. Iger started Disney’s initiative, titled Heroes Work Here, to hire and train veterans. The program has reportedly hired 8,000 veterans through Disney and has helped 15,000 other veterans find work elsewhere. Iger said, “My father served in the Navy in World War II. Back then war was an appreciated sacrifice. In Vietnam, the soldiers came back to a deeply divided nation. Every generation of veterans deserves a lifetime of gratitude.”

Iger was presented with the award at the Los Angeles Evening of Tribute. $4 million dollars was raised that night for the Navy SEAL Foundation. Former recipient Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer for Pirates of the Caribbean, presented Iger with the award. The Navy SEAL Foundation provides financial support to the Naval Special Warfare families.
