The inaugural Adventures by Disney Rhine River Cruise will depart from Basel, Switzerland on April 8th, 2017. The Disney Vacation Club Cruise will be visiting Switzerland, France, Germany and the Netherlands; stopping at six cities within those four countries. This inaugural cruise will offer members and their guests more than just “collectible pins.”
According to the Disney Parks Blog, Disney will be distributing gifts: a custom travel bag, German Rudesheim Pottery, a slate cheese board set complete with knives, and even regional treats like Dutch Stroopwafels, among others. After Disney Vacation Club members disembark the ship they will be gifted with a framed ceramic tile that is not yet available for purchase. This limited-edition piece celebrates the 1991 Disney-animated classic Beauty and the Beast. The animated film, and the soon to be released live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, were both inspired by the region that the cruise will have visited.
In addition to the gifts, it has also been announced that Walt Disney Archives Director Becky Cline will be the cruise’s “insider host.” Becky Cline will share her knowledge with guests on board about how the Walt Disney Company has been inspired by the region, countries, and cities the cruise will be visiting.
