Disney XD really wants you to watch the new rebooted DuckTales cartoon, so they are giving you an entire day’s worth of opportunities to catch the hour-long premiere. August 12th, to be exact, starting at midnight and running 24 consecutive hours. This will be the second special premiere event XD is playing a part in, as they will be showing the debut of Descendants 2 along with four other channels (ABC, Disney Channel, Freeform, and Lifetime) on July 21st at 8 pm.

With the announcement of this event also came a preview of the new show’s opening credits sequence. As anyone who grew up with the original DuckTales knows, the show’s opening sequence (with the song that accompanied it) was by far one of the most memorable and iconic animated introductions of the entire era. Take a look at what they have come up with this time:

The August 12th event will be a 1-hour movie; DuckTales officially makes its debut as a series on Saturday, September 23rd with two new episodes. These episodes will be played multiple times over the course of the day, with showings at 7 am, 11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm, 8 pm, & 10:30 pm Eastern Time. DuckTales showings will also be available on the Disney XD app and Disney XD VOD on the same dates.

This is not the first 24-hour showing of an animated feature in television history. In 2002, Cartoon Network played the film The Iron Giant from 7 pm to 7 pm, July 2nd to 3rd. That event is seen by many as being largely responsible for the film’s current fan base and critical regard.
