Fans of Star Wars and distance running alike will soon have the opportunity to combine them both in traditional runDisney fashion, without ever having to leave the house (if you own a treadmill, that is). It is a new year, and runDisney is offering a new option for those who want some Disney marathon action without going to a galaxy far, far away: the Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon.
To take part, all you need to do is complete 13.1 miles, wherever you choose, by March 31st. Registration runs from today until February 28th at runDisney.com, or you can register in person at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo during Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, taking place today through January 6th. Completion of the virtual marathon will, of course, result in a unique Star Wars-themed medal.
Those who complete both the Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon and April 22nd’s Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon at Walt Disney World Resort will have earned themselves an additional medal for the 2018 runDisney Kessel Run Challenge.
runDisney will be making a donation to Starlight Children’s foundation on behalf of Star Wars: Force for Change in honor of the half marathon, and they are giving participants the opportunity to donate as well during the registration process. Starlight Children’s Foundation “brings joy and comfort to hospitalized children and their families through programs at children’s hospitals around the world.”
