Disney Springs has a busy schedule set for the next two years, with three new dining experiences set to open in 2017 and two more to follow in 2018. Disney Parks Blog gave a rundown of what guests can expect in the near future when eating in the area.
Levy Restaurants’ Portabello Country Italian Trattoria will be getting a replacement, with a new Italian dining concept also by Levy and headed by award-winner James Beard and “Top Chef Master” Tony Mantuano. Mantuano’s time in Italy served as the inspiration behind the menu.
Wine Bar George, under the supervision of Master Sommelier George Miliotes, will be opening to the public late this year. The establishment will feature over 100 varieties of wine spanning diverse vintages and price tags. To settle your stomach while you sip, Wine Bar George will offer seasonal shareable plates, cheeses, and charcuterie. The venue will host special events, and focus on wine-makers and wine education. Disney has already given us a first look at what will be in store for wine amateurs and aficionados.
Lastly for 2017 is The Edison. A restaurant concept that has been in development for some time now, The Edison is set as a 1920s electric company with an “industrial gothic” motif. Guests will be able to enjoy “classic American food, craft cocktails and live entertainment including cabaret.” The dining experience is a project by Patina Restaurant Group and Kinetescape’s Andrew Meieran.
Jeleo already has five locations in the United States and Mexico City, but its first location in Florida will be in Disney Springs. Focusing on traditional and modern elements of Spanish cuisine, this multi-level creation of Chef José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup will feature a storefront style Spanish sandwich shop on the first level. The rest of the restaurant will focus on Spanish inspired dishes such as “paella cooked over a wood fire, hand-carved Jamon Iberico de Bellota and wood-grilled Iberico pork.”
Wolfgang Puck will also be adding to Disney Springs’ ever growing dining options with a new restaurant set to “capture the essence of laid-back California dining made popular by Puck at Spago.” Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill will feature Puck’s classics with Mediterranean influences, comfort food, and cocktails.
