Children's Place is seeking to end its agreement to operate the Disney Store North America division.
Prior to this announcement, Children's Place recently renegotiated its contract with Disney which extended the end date for remodeling the stores to 2012. The cost of the renovations for the 234 stores was estimated to be $175 million. The agreement also included opening stores showcasing the new design.
There are currently 335 Disney Stores operated by Children's Place. If the company comes to terms with Disney, they will regain ownership of two thirds of the shops with approximately 112 locations slated for closure.
