Disney gains control of deceptive websites

Dean Callaway of Lincolnshire has been ordered to release two websites he created to Disney.

Callaway has been using the domain names of waltdisney.co.uk and disneyland-resort.co.uk. Through clickable ads he has been collecting revenue since 2004.

Nominet, the United Kingdom's internet domain name resolution service, determined that the names were "abusive" and that Callaway must surrender them to the Walt Disney Company.

The ruling is a result of a complaint filed by Disney who charged that the sites were "confusingly similar" and "almost identical" to the company's official sites.

Callaway has chosen not to dispute the ruling.
