Disney honored with several Thea Awards

Disney was honored with several Thea Awards this week from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA). Included in the honors were:

Cars Land at Disney California Adventure - New Theme Park Land. Specifically mentioned was "the overwhelming scale of the rockwork panorama."

Radiators Springs Racers in Cars Land - Attraction category. "True excellence in design, technical innovation and execution."

Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge at Disney California Adventure - Theme Park Restaurant category. "High quality service, distinctive setting and cuisine."

Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii - Themed Hotel Resort. "The Aulani resort experience is one-of-a-kind."

A former Disney cast member, Frank Stanek, will also be honored with the Buzz Price Award - Recognizing a Lifetime of Distinguished Achievements. Stanek is former Corporate Vice President of Research and Planning for the Walt Disney Company. According to the Disney Parks Blog, his role was to "provide background and analysis in the original development of Walt Disney World Resort and the expansion of Disneyland Resort, as well as Epcot, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris."

The Thea Awards ceremony will be held at the Disneyland Hotel on April 6, 2013.
