Disney's MagicBands increasing guest spending?

Walt Disney World has been testing their new MagicBands for the MyMagic+ program. Tom Staggs, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, says tests are showing that the bands have indeed aided in boosting guest spending. His theory is that guests may be spending more because they are enjoying the technology. Staggs said the program is "still in test mode. It takes some time to get it all rolled out."
The MyMagic+ system will help guests customize their vacation before they've even stepped foot on Disney property. They can book times for attractions and restaurants ahead of time, as well as make reservations for character meet and greets. FastPasses will also become part of MyMagic+, allowing guests to arrange their day in advance. The MagicBands will work as hotel keys, park tickets and give charging privileges, so guests will never have to physically pull out their wallets.
