New music arrives at Walt Disney World's Space Mountain

It appears as if fans who were underwhelmed at the late 2009 updates to Space Mountain in Walt Disney World will now have another reason to visit this classic attraction. According to Disney, a new soundtrack will soon debut in the Tomorrowland roller coaster. When its Disneyland counterpart reopened after a lengthy closure, it featured modified ride vehicles with speaker systems in each car. This enhancement proved to be a huge hit with guests, so when the Walt Disney World version closed for refurbishment in spring of 2009, many were hopeful for the same changes. However, the Orlando version opened in November of 2009 with few noticeable major changes. While the vehicles themselves will not have the same speaker system as Disneyland, 60 new speakers featuring "Starry-O Phonic Sound" were installed throughout the attraction, yet were not unveiled to the public until further testing was completed. According to the "Space Mountain Project Team," the new soundtrack will include "a zippy musical track, the whoosh of passing asteroids, and the rush of interstellar traffic."
