Pixar grants girl's dying wish
by Leah ZanollaJun 21, 2009
Colby Curtin, 10, had one wish before she died - to see the new Pixar movie Up. Colby was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer three years ago, but recently had become so weak and sick that she couldn't leave the house. Her mother said Colby had wanted to see the movie since seeing the first preview, but wasn't sure she was going to be alive to do so. When it became apparent that her disease was progressing, a family friend started calling Pixar to see if it would be possible to get a copy of the movie on DVD. Luckily, the friend contacted the right person at Pixar and was able to get a copy of the only-in-theaters movie sent to Colby. When the family found out Pixar was sending the movie, Colby's mother asked her if she thought she could hang on. Colby responded, "I'm ready (to die), but I'm going to wait for the movie." She passed away seven hours after viewing Up.
