Disney has just announced what will most likely be a wildly popular attraction at their D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind event this fall. Pleasure Island: Rewind will celebrate Downtown Disney's popular nightlife spot, Pleasure Island, which closed in 2008. There will be areas focusing on the Adventurers Club, Comedy Warehouse, Mannequins and 8 Trax clubs, as well as a "New Year's Eve" celebration, which was held nightly when Pleasure Island was open. Specific details about exactly what will be included haven't been released yet, but fans will be hoping to see some of their favorite Adventurers Club characters and other entertainment offerings.
In addition to the Pleasure Island area, the other new feature will be a pop-up shop version of Mickey's of Glendale, the Walt Disney Imagineering store. The shop will offer a selection of exclusive Imagineering merchandise, event merchandise and a special line of H2O Plus products.
Disney archivists, Imagineers and Legends will be on hand to discuss past park attractions such as Adventure Thru Inner Space, If You Had Wings, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Presenters include Disney Legends Marty Sklar, Bob Gurr and Alice David; Walt Disney Archives Director Becky Cline; Disney and World's Fair historians Bill Cotter, Stacia Martin and Michael Kelly; more will be announced before the event.
The event will take place at Walt Disney World's Contemporary Resort on November 22-23, 2014. Tickets, on sale April 16, are $190 each, and will be available to D23 Gold and Silver members. If any are left on May 28, they will be available for D23 Free members to purchase for $250. Guests will all receive a special gift to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1964 New York World's Fair.
