Walt Disney Co. has a 26 percent profit loss
by Leah ZanollaJul 30, 2009
The Walt Disney Company is reporting a drop of 26 percent in its third quarter profit. Last year at this time profits were $1.28 billion down this year to $954 million. Disney is attributing this drop to a decrease in customer spending. The theme parks division (which suffered a 9% profit loss) offered consumer discounts like a "buy 4 days get 3 free" promotion that helped bring in guests, but even that didn't do enough to increase income. All divisions of the company experienced this decline in operating income.
