According to a report in USA Today - After an abrupt end to a long partnership with Universal Studios, Steven Spielberg announced yesterday that he would be partnering his Dreamworks Studio with Disney to distribute at least 6 of his feature films starting in 2010.

Spielberg has had a long relationship with Universal, the studio where he filmed two of his biggest hits - Jaws and E.T. According to the article in USA Today "Universal's sudden announcement that it was finished with DreamWorks was a rare flash of hostility in Hollywood, where happy endings in business deals are often as forced as they are in the average romantic comedies, and even breakups occur amid smiling faces."

With Universal out of the picture, so to speak, Spielberg needed a major studio that could distribute his films - enter Disney.

This won't affect any of Dreamsworks animated features, like Shrek - Dreamworks Animation was split off and sold a few years ago.
