Two Disney films hope to strike gold

This year's award season will officially get underway with the 2010 Golden Globe Awards. While not as prestigious as the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes are the first chance in the new year for Hollywood to walk the red carpet. The Golden Globes are also thought by many in the industry to be an indicator of what films will vie for an Oscar.

The Disney Company is fortunate enough to have two films nominated for Best Animated Feature Film: "Up" and "The Princess and the Frog." If history is any indication, "Up" could help Disney/Pixar continue a streak started in 2007. Since the Best Animated Feature Film Award was introduced in 2007, a Disney/Pixar film has taken home the statuette every year.

The ceremony will be held on January 17th and can be seen in high definition on NBC.

NOTE: "Up" has also been nominated for Best Original Score by Michael Giacchino, the composer for the hit television series LOST and the recent holiday special "Disney's Prep and Landing."
