Disneyland fills 16-million-gallon lagoon
Oct 23, 2009
Mickey Mouse and Goofy were on hand at Disney's California Adventure today to turn on a water spigot to refill Paradise Bay. The 16-million-gallon lagoon was drained a year ago so Imagineers could prepare for the upcoming "World of Color" show.
Disney recycled the water from Orange County Water District's Groundwater Replenishment System. It will pour through a spigot at 2,800 gallons per minute. The lagoon filling process has to go through a testing and adjustment period, so it will be filled in installments until the end of the year. When full, the water will be filtered by the park's filteration system.
The Imagineers will program the equipment for the "World of Color" show when the lagoon is full.
