Primeval Whirl ramps up safety features
by Leah ZanollaMar 5, 2008
Disney's Animal Kingdom Primeval Whirl attraction is getting added safety features following the death of an employee this past November. Cast Member Karen Price entered a restricted area, was struck by a moving car and died as a result of head injuries.
Sensor mats are being installed in the sector of the loading zone that is off-limits. Should someone step on them while Primeval Whirl is running, it will automatically shut the attraction down. Conspicuous stripes are also being added to better differentiate the loading and unloading zones.
Kim Prunty, Disney spokesperson commented "We are always looking at ways to enhance safety."
Primeval Whirl continues to operate during this time, with the safety upgrades scheduled when the park is closed.
