Disney Cruise Line drops fuel surcharge

Several weeks after most other major cruise lines dropped their fuel surcharges, Disney Cruise Line has announced that it will be suspending the surcharge effective immediately. The recent decline in fuel prices is cited as the reason for the reversal. Oil prices have dropped from a high of $147 a barrel this past summer, to $60 a barrel recently.

According to statement released by Disney “"If the closing price on the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) of West Texas Intermediate fuel is below $70 a barrel two weeks prior to the beginning of the calendar quarter (during which a specific cruise is scheduled), the company will refund fuel surcharges paid in the form of an onboard credit”
