The Orange County Department of Health has reported an increase in bed bug complaints for area hotels, apartments and homes.
Speaking on behalf of the health department, Dan Weister stated "Our inspectors are saying in recent months, even the last year, we've been seeing more complaints of bed bugs in our area."
The department has placed the blame on the ban of certain pesticides and cleaning agents, the unseasonably warm winter and more International visitors.
One family claims to have been bitten by bed bugs while staying at Disney's All Star Movies Resort. It is reported that in exchange for not discussing the matter, they were given $5000 and a free trip.
While not confirming the incident, Disney stated that they do their utmost to provide for their guest's comfort and on some occasions compensate them if their visit does not meet company standards. Disney does have entomologists (bug experts) on their staff to monitor hotel conditions.
