People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, wants criminal charges filed against SeaWorld regarding the recent death of a trainer. Dawn Brancheau, 40, was killed
February 24 after she was pulled underwater by Tilikum, one of the park's killer whales. PETA is campaigning for the Orange County prosecutors to consider manslaughter charges against the theme park. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Orange County Sheriff's Office is not currently pursuing a criminal case in the tragedy.
Since the incident, Tilikum is no longer performing in shows at SeaWorld and their trainers do not enter the water with the other whales.
