by Leah ZanollaJan 26, 2010
Universal Parks & Resorts has announced plans for a 1,100-acre theme park in South Korea. They plan to break ground next year and will open in early 2014. The Lotte Group of Japan will become the project's largest shareholder, at 26.7 percent. This group has prior experience in theme parks, already running an indoor theme park in Seoul.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Universal Studios Korea will be a $3 billion venture, featuring a theme park, CityWalk area, water park, golf course, hotels and more.
The South Korean government has agreed to construct highways and rail lines to the park. They are hoping to create 40,000 jobs with this project.
