A Disney Cruise Line crew member was terminated and arrested this morning, April 10, after being accused of molesting a teenage passenger. The Disney Dream was docked in Port Canaveral when Canaveral Port Authority Police were called to the ship around 8:00am. Ahmed Sofyan, 36, of Jakarta, Indonesia, has been charged with "two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation and one count of false imprisonment on a 13-year-old girl." He was arrested and taken to the Brevard County Jail.

Disney Cruise Line released a statement late this afternoon about the incident:

Today, Disney Cruise Line alerted law enforcement that a crew member from one of its ships was accused of lewd or lascivious molestation of a minor. The crew member has been arrested, and charges are now pending. The incident occurred this morning while the ship was at Port Canaveral. As soon as Disney Cruise Line learned of the incident, it immediately notified law enforcement, including the Port Canaveral Police Department, the FBI and the Coast Guard. The Port Canaveral Police Department is leading the investigation, and Disney Cruise Line will continue to assist in that investigation in any way that it can. The crew member's employment with Disney Cruise Line has been terminated.

"We have no tolerance whatsoever for the behavior alleged in this incident," said Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line. "We are sorry that anything of this nature could have occurred on one of our ships. We place enormous value on the trust our guests have in us, and nothing is more important to us than the safety and security of each and every one of our guests."
