"Cabin in the Woods" coming to Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights
Jun 27, 2013
Universal Orlando has announced the theme for the first of its haunted houses for Halloween Horror Nights. "The Cabin in the Woods" is a popular horror film that tells the story of five college students' trip to the country and their scary adventures with a zombie family. Drew Goddard, the film's directory and co-writer, will work with Universal on the details of the house. Goddard said, "I've always felt like of all the possible tie-ins and ancillary avenues for 'Cabin in the Woods,' it couldn't be better suited for a maze. It just feels right. It's a match made in heaven, or hell, as it were. We always wanted 'Cabin' to take on a life beyond us. It just felt like such a rich universe where people can drop in and have their own fun."
Michael Aiello, Universal Orlando's entertainment team's assistant director of creative development, believes that the film's diverse environments and variety of characters are perfect for the fright fest. It includes such horrors as "giant snakes, killer birds, a rampaging unicorn, an evil clown and a merman." Aiello said, "The characters are all so... cool to look at. The minute I saw it, I wanted to try and translate that into an experience that guests could walk through and be terrified by all these amazing creatures in real life."
Halloween Horror Nights begins September 20.
