Universal Orlando closed the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster this week for an undetermined amount of time. The attraction closed Wednesday for maintenance after the roller coaster manufacturer sent a safety bulletin on September 2. This warning discussed a flaw that had been discovered in the ride vehicles. The German roller coaster manufacturer, Maurer Sohne, said "that cars traveling at 65 mph with 1,850 riders per hour may not be fatigue endurable."

Universal claims that the maintenance on the attraction has nothing to do with the safety bulletin, stating that fixes due to a notice from September 2 would have been fixed before now and the closure is due to unrelated maintenance.

Maurer Sohne says repairing the coaster's flaw could be a three month fix. Universal will not give details on what exactly is being worked on during the closure or when the ride will be back in operation.
