Universal Orlando to raise employees' starting pay
May 8, 2014
Starting pay for Universal Orlando employees will go up to $9 (current pay starts at $8) beginning June 1. Walt Disney World currently starts their employees at $8.03, but is in the middle of contract negotiations with the unions, so pay may be increasing. The resort is planning to hire 3,500 employees soon, due to the new CityWalk venues, the opening of Cabana Bay Beach Resort and the Diagon Alley expansion. Those jobs will be a mixture of full-time, part-time and seasonal.
No specific opening date has been announced yet for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion, but it should be open before the end of June.
Universal has planned two job fairs that will take place in the next few days. On Saturday, May 10, a "virtual job fair" will take place. Potential employees will need to apply online from 8:00am - 3:00pm; if selected, they will receive a phone call that day for a phone interview or to schedule a face-to-face interview.
On Tuesday, May 13, CityWalk will host a job fair from 8:00am - 3:00pm to find employees for their retail locations.
