Universal Studios and American Express have agreed on a multi-year partnership to bring exclusive benefits to people who are customers of both companies. The companies have worked together since 2008, but this agreement expands this partnership and provides new marketing opportunities for both. For the first time, American Express will be able to "acquire new Card Members directly through Universal theme parks and websites." American Express will be listed first of the payment services providers on product placement and co-promotion on films made by Universal Pictures.

American Express Card Members will have access to special events in Universal's theme parks, film premieres and film screenings. Theme park discounts on merchandise, food and beverages may be available when an American Express card is used, as well as the opportunity to participate in special entertainment experiences such as reserved viewing for special events. The Universal theme parks will have exclusive American Express VIP lounges available with the purchase of a multi-park ticket or Annual Pass. These lounges will provide complimentary beverages and snacks.
