Monthly Events

Velvet Sessions

On the last Thursday of every month (except November and December), the lobby of the Hard Rock Hotel is transformed into an intimate, high-energy entertainment venue for "Velvet Sessions". The event features a different band each month and includes complimentary cocktails (limited selection), butler-served hors d'oeuvres and warm-up music starting at 6:30 pm.  At 8:30 pm, the featured band starts and a cash bar is available.  Complimentary valet parking is available.

Prices:

$29 online, $35 at the door, VIP $50 (In September - $50 online, $55 at the door, VIP $25 more)

This weekly Hawaiian luau is hosted every Saturday (and Tuesdays seasonally).  While watching hula and fire dancers, enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet with such island foods as a pit-roasted pig, fire-grilled beef with mushroom, fresh Pacific fish, tropical fruits, and desserts. Children will have their own special buffet with pizza, chicken fingers and macaroni & cheese.

Universal Orlando's Summer Concert Series features performances by some of music’s biggest talent – live at the outdoor Music Plaza. Beginning Saturday, June 1 and running Saturday nights through July 6, this concert series will give guests the chance to top off their day in the park with a nighttime mega-concert. The concerts are included with regular admission to Universal Studios.

4th of July Celebration

Universal Orlando will add a special patriotic ending with fireworks to their evening show "Universal 360: A Cinesphere Spectacular". 

Universal officials have said that the fireworks will not be able to be viewed from Islands of Adventure or Universal CityWalk.

Universal Orlando's Summer Concert Series features performances by some of music’s biggest talent – live at the outdoor Music Plaza. Beginning Saturday, June 1 and running Saturday nights through July 6, this concert series will give guests the chance to top off their day in the park with a nighttime mega-concert. The concerts are included with regular admission to Universal Studios.

There are no special events scheduled in August, but there are some events that are held monthly, including Velvet Sessions and the Wantilan Luau.

Rock the Universe 2013

September 6 & 7, 2013: 4 pm - 1 am

• Join other fans to experience one of the biggest Christian rock concerts in the world!  Pay one price and see some of the biggest names in Christian music today!
• Saturday night candle lighting service will feature popular band Casting Crowns, plus guest speakers and more
• Dara Maclean, OBB and Love & The Outcome will perform at the Fan Zone presented by Coca-Cola.  There will be autograph sessions with the bands, karaoke and band merchandise.

Velvet Unplugged - November 9, 2012 @ 8:00 pm (doors open at 7:00)

Hard Rock Hotel lobby

Starring in this month's show is Chris Barron, of the Spin Doctors, who are known for such hits as "Two Princes," "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong," "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" and "Cleopatra's Cat".  Dixon will perform accoustically in the lobby of the Hard Rock Hotel.

The event is free from the standing section, or guests may reserve a table - $40 for a table for two, $60 for a table for four. Reserved tables include complimentary first round of drinks and self or valet parking.

"ICE" at Gaylord Palms - November 10, 2012 - January 1, 2013

Using two million pounds of ice, this Gaylord Palms Resort special ticket exhibit will be transformed into the North Pole featuring an arctic forest, a Christmas carnival with a life-size carousel, Santa's ornament room and even his reindeer!  One of the attractions favorite scenes is an unforgettable Life-sized Nativity made completely of clear ice. This brunch buffet includes roasted leg of lamb, a seafood raw bar, omelet and waffle station, Asian cuisine, sushi, stir-fry and carving stations, and freshly made desserts. Children will enjoy visits from Universal characters, live islands music, hula dancers, a face painter, balloon artist and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

This event held annually at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL blends the best of New Orleans with some of the best names in music for a rockin’ good time. 

Mardi Gras features live bands straight from the heart of New Orleans, a parade, authentic Louisiana cuisine and one special performing artist celebration. Really a great time!

Velvet Unplugged - Carl Dixon

Carl Dixon, formerly of The Guess Who, will perform hits such as American Woman, These Eyes, No Time and more.  This acoustic show will be held in the lobby of Universal's Hard Rock Hotel.

The event is free from the standing section, or guests may reserve a table - $40 for a table for two, $60 for a table for four.  Tables include complimentary first round of drinks (house wine, house liquor, domestic draft beer or soda) and complimentary self or valet parking.
