Welcome to the final edition of Disney Rumor Round Up for 2017! You can check out the November 2017 installment here. We will look back at this year’s rumors and into what is coming in the future. Disclaimer: any rumors mentioned in this article are not confirmed by Disney and may not ever happen.
What rumors turned out to be true in 2017?
- Ratatouille attraction coming to the France pavilion in Epcot
- Pandora: The World of Avatar‘s opening
- Caribbean Beach renovations and expansion including a new DVC resort next door
- Flights of Wonder closure
Many rumors turned out to be true this past year and there are still a lot of current and new rumors that have the possibility of coming true in 2018.
Over near the Magic Kingdom First Aid station behind Casey’s the fountain was removed. WDWNT believes this is for future work on another bypass to alleviate congestion. WDWMagic sources say it is temporary at this point for on going work in the area. Keep checking back here for more information on what could be happening in this area.
The Country Bear Jamboree is an original Walt Disney World attraction and could be getting a refresh soon. The rumor from WDWMagic.com is that the bears could be getting new songs to sing. No word on what exactly this would entail or if the current songs or bears would change at all.
Brazil is still very much active in the plans for Epcot but is still said to open without a major attraction within the new pavilion. France besides Ratatouille could see a refresh with the Impressions de France film. A new film is said to be in the works for the pavilion according to WDWMagic.
The United Kingdom pavilion is still getting an attraction in the next few years but according to sources this attraction may not have Brave as the intellectual property used as was previously reported.
Star Wars Galactic Nights happened in December and included a panel on Galaxy’s Edge. Minimal details were released including that Imagineering is building life size X-wing fighters for the land. An imagineer also slipped the long rumored code name for the land in “Delos”.
Rumors surrounding Animal Kingdom and possible new attractions have gone quiet again now that the replacement for Flights of Wonder was announced. Indiana Jones remains a possibility for Dinoland U.S.A. but is far from certain.
Walt Disney World Resort
Disney unveiled concept art for most of the Disney Skyliner stations but left out a look at the Disney Riviera Resort station as well as the Pop Century/Art of Animation station. Each station fits the theme of their corresponding location. The gondola cars themselves will also have theming with characters from the fab five, Disney parks, and even Marvel.
Disney also finally announced the replacement for La Nouba in Disney Springs which will be a Cirque Du Soleil show involving Disney animation. This will open sometime in the next year but no official date has been set.
Continuing with Disney Springs, World of Disney is set to get a major renovation according to WDWMagic. The store will move to a temporary location in Town Center across from Polite Pig. The World of Disney store would change to fit the theme of the new Disney stores in malls across the country. This is very white and very modern instead of the heavy Disney theming.
Pixar Pier is set to open in June of next year according to sources of mine. Most of the Pier will close this January to make way for the changes. Cove Bar will close for a period of time to receive minimal changes but will reopen looking mostly the same according to MiceChat and sources of mine. Flik’s Flyers is expected to leave Bugs land and move to Pixar Pier with an Inside Out theme however no closing date has been revealed for Bugs land which is expected to make way for the Marvel expansion. If Flik’s Flyers is indeed leaving Bugs land to move to Pixar Pier that change will have to occur sooner than later.
