The team answers a listeners email asking for suggestions on shore excursions in Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Cozumel

Cozumel is Mexico's largest island located just 12 miles from the Yucatan Peninsula. Rich in history, you can explore ancient Mayan ruins or simply relax and enjoy the white sand beaches.

Legendary marine explorer Jacques Cousteau declared Cozumel to be one of the most beautiful scuba diving areas in the world. The coral reefs are home to an amazing variety of tropical fish. Snorkelers and divers alike will have an unforgettable experience exploring the crystal clear waters.

Nature lovers can tour the Chankanaab National Park while history buffs can discover ancient Mayan ruins. The waterfront is lined with shops of all varieties. Finding the perfect souvenir is a breeze as is enjoying an authentic Mexican meal.

Cozumel Shore Excursions


Cozumel's Golf Excursion (6 hours)
Looking for a chance to link up with your favorite sport? Take this excursion to the Cozumel Country Club, where you'll golf amid swaying palms and ocean breezes. Range balls, cart fees, greens fees and souvenir balls are provided. Club rentals, shoe rentals, and lunch are available at an additional cost. Appropriate golf attire required.
Price: $145 (ages 10 and above) No one under age 10.

Certified Scuba Tour (4 - 4.5 hours)
A certified diver's delight! First, you'll dive Palancar Reef to depths of 70 to 80 feet after being briefed about the dive plan, points of interest and safety tips. Back on board, guests enjoy beverages and fruit en route to the next dive site, a shallower dive of 50 to 60 feet, determined by the captain. All scuba equipment provided. A certified dive card is required and guests must have completed one dive within the last two years.
Price: $94 (ages 12 and above) No one under age 12.

Dolphin Discovery Cozumel (7 - 7.5 hours)
Interact with dolphins for half an hour at Chankanaab National Park! After an educational orientation you'll enter the water via stairs to arrive on a submerged platform. You'll have one half-hour standing in waist-deep water to interact with the friendly marine mammals. Afterwards, stay and enjoy the rest of the park's offerings, including a Caribbean buffet lunch. Transportation is available every hour on the half hour.

Cozumel Dolphin Observer (7 - 7.5 hours)
Accompany your family members/friends during their Dolphin Discovery Cozumel experience. The Caribbean buffet lunch is included.

Mayan Frontier Horseback Riding Tour (3 - 3.5 hours)
Saddle up! Travel the Mayan frontier on horseback and see replicas of ruins as you traverse this tropical savanna. Then, you'll visit a working ranch stocked with cattle, ponies and other animals. After your ride, enjoy complimentary soft drinks and beer.
Price: $85 (ages 12 and above) No one under age 12.

Tulum Ruins and Beach Tour (6.5 - 7.5 hours)
The remnants of a proud and fascinating civilization are yours to explore. After a boat ride to Playa del Carmen, you'll travel via air-conditioned bus to the Tulum Ruins. A knowledgeable guide will escort you through this sacred city and reveal its complex history. On your way back to Playa del Carmen you will spend approximately 1 hour at a nearby beach. Beverages and boxed lunches provided. An additional fee will be charged for those wishing to bring a video camera. There are areas of rough terrain and strollers are not allowed. Chankanaab Sea Lion Discovery (3.5-4 hours)
Enjoy high-flying fun plus a splashy show at Chankanaab National Park! First, entertainment takes wing at the Wacky World of Birds. Then, aquatic amusement awaits at the spectacular Sea Lion Show. You may stay as long as you please to explore the natural wonders at this amazing park; transportation is available every hour on the half-hour.

Tropical Jeep Safari Tour (4-4.5 hours)
Discover the ancient mysteries of Mexico. With a guide to lead the way, you'll enjoy driving on a rugged, off-road adventure via Jeep. Also, soak up the sun at Xpalbarco Beach during this exciting excursion. Mexican-style lunch and beverages are provided. Guests are divided into groups of four. Snorkeling at Chankanaab National Park (4 hours)

Fury Catamaran Teen Cruise (2-2.5 hours)

Clear Kayak and Beach Snorkel Combo (3 hours)
Eco-minded tourists won't want to miss this opportunity to see the unspoiled beauty of Parque Punta Sur. You'll navigate your transparent kayak through this pristine ecological reserve guided by an expert, who will take you through the lagoon and mangroves to Uvas beach. It's a shore thing -- Playa Sol Beach is a sensational seaside playground. Atlantis Submarine Expedition (2-2.5 hours)

At depths of up to 110 feet, you'll encounter the wonders of the sea face to face: from breathtaking tropical fish to the sheer majesty of 30-foot coral heads. Reef Snorkel (2.5-3 hours)

Take a 5-minute ride to Playa Corona, where certified dive masters and instructors will give information on the use of snorkel equipment, safety tips and location of prime snorkeling spots. Snorkeling equipment is provided; then jump in and enjoy the sights below the surface.

Ocean View Explorer Tour (1.5-2 hours)
See the sea from just under the sea! Come aboard the Ocean View Explorer for a panoramic view below the surface - while staying comfortably cool and dry! Crystal-clear windows in front of each seat allow you to see fish and other marine life swim by as you glide by the breathtaking coral formations of Paradiso Reef and other spectacular sights.
