Disney Cruise Line - Stateroom 8532 Report
| Ship: Disney Dream | Stateroom: 8532 | Condition: 5 |
| Deck: 8 | Category: 5B | Location: Forward |
| Sail Date: 04/03/11 |
Notes: Very convenient to forward stairs/elevators, with little to no observed noise from the hallway.
Balcony door was smaller than expected (roughly one-third of the room's width rather than one-half), but serviceable.
There did not appear to be an easy way to open the balcony divider between rooms if booking consecutive rooms--looks like it would take a very large Allen wrench (probably should have inquired with guest services to find our for certain).
Liked that there was a safety lock at the top of the balcony door where children could not reach.
Angle of toilet in the WC was slightly problematic for my long legs--I needed to be careful to avoid bashing my left knee into the wall.
Good tub space in the bathroom, but if you're over 6'2", you won't be able to stand up straight in the shower.
Love the deep sinks. |

Notes: A fine room with a great location, close but not too close to stairs/elevators. Very quiet. Connected with our kids in 8534, didn't hear then at all with the door closed. When docked in Nassau, view of Atlantis. Booked it again for next year. |

Notes: I booked this room based on feedback from the DISboards and these stateroom reports an was not let down. The rrom was fantastic and was very roomy. There is a lot of space to pack things away. Waves were quite large leaving Port Canaveral (Hurricaine Earl) and the room squeaked quite a bit, but after a while we got used to it but it only lasted 1 night. It had 2 TVs and 2 bathrooms (the master with a jacuzzi tub). There are also 4 phones: 1 in the master bathroom, 2 in the master bedroom, and 1 in the livingroom...with the pull out bed and murphy bed. It is located just ooutside of the midship elevators and only 1 deck below the buffet.
I would definitely book this room again. You will not be disappointed. |

Notes: An absolutely fantastic room on Deck 8, Mid ship Cat 3 bigger than other locations. great location, good sized room, lots of amenities. Loved the deck, easy to get to the pools and sun deck quickly, good for topsiders, and cove cafe to get a quick snack and return. I see the odd mention of posters saying there is noise on this deck, It is totally untrue, unless they are speaking about the pirate party, and if you have your veranda doors open, actually its very peaceful, and for a light sleeper we got a lot of sleep. No funny noises at all. I have found lower deck rooms have a lot of vibration and noise, from clubs, restaurants, and a humid, and not fresh smell, but up on deck 8, the movement is less, no vibration, and you can have room service on your veranda. We spent a lot of time in the room and enjoyed the facilities. |

Notes: We got this as a paid, at-port upgrade. We weren't sure what to expect when we went in (we wanted to know we were getting our money's worth for the upgrade!) and were absolutely thrilled. The suite is quite large--there is a living room and a separate bedroom with a sliding door between them. You have two full bathrooms (one with shower/toilet/sink, the other with separate shower and bathtub, two sinks, and a toilet.) The smaller bathroom is near the entrance, the larger bathroom is off the bedroom. There are also two closets, one near the entrance and a huge, walk-in closet in the bedroom. We had four people in the room, but it does sleep five. There is a queen bed in the bedroom. The living room has a pull-down Murphy bed and a queen-sized pull-out sofa bed that are made each evening by the room steward. (BTW...our room steward, Rodolfo, was phenomenal. He's been with DCL for ten years, is as friendly and knowledgeable as they come, and had the room in great shape. We loved having him!) We did not have issues with creaking wood as others have reported in the suites. However, the sliding door moved a lot when the seas were rough, but that was cured by a door wedge, courtesy of Rodolfo.
We did hear quite a bit of noise from Deck 9, but it was usually first thing in the morning or late in the evening, when the crew was moving deck chairs, and it didn't last for long. We'd also occasionally hear kids running. It wasn't bothersome, though, and probably would only wake the very lightest of sleepers IF it occurred during those hours (never did occur when we were trying to sleep.) There was NO noise whatsoever from the hallway, despite the fact the room faces directly toward the elevator banks.
One tip: The outlets in this room are VERY hard to find. There is one in each bathroom, but they are shaver-type outlets, so not all appliances will work with them (we couldn't use it for the curling iron, for instance.) However, there is a regular near the floor in the master closet, next to the safe. We used that with an extension cord so we could use a hair dryer/curling iron and still see the mirror, so I highly recommend packing an extension cord if you book this suite. There is also an outlet in the master bedroom INSIDE the cupboard that's immediately beneath the tv. We didn't see that outlet until the last day despite a great deal of hunting (it's at the back of a cupboard at knee level..you have to be on your knees between the bed and tv to see it.) Finally, there is one European outlet in the living room between the two verandah doors. |

Notes: Was there any noticable ambient noise? How did you find the conceirge service? Are the fireworks able to be viewed from the verandah? Is there any particular about this room or this category you'd like to share? Any one been bumped up to a 2 bedroom suite or a Royal suite? Or made it in via the wait list? |

Notes: This room is fabulous!
We now much prefer the midship location-the layout of the stateroom is ideal, the murphy bed in the living room, the triple wide verandah, and the walk-out-the-door-to-the-elevator-lobby convenience. This is a wonderful room!
There is noise heard from above, but nothing that we found to be overly obstrusive. The only time we were only a touch frustrated was our last night and early morning, but we understood...they needed to get the deck ready for the next sailing. It wasn't horrible, just not perfectly peaceful. We heard zero noise from the elevator lobby outside our front door. Actually we enjoyed having the feeling of the "lobby" being an extension of our space, rather than a long hallway of doors.
The cabin itself is in great shape! Yes, there are some dings and small signs of age, but considering the amount of people passing in and out of here and the fact that the Magic is nearly 10 years old, I'd give it a solid 9.5 out of 10. Truly.
Concierge? Oh, my. There is truly the Disney Concierge difference on-board this ship. We found it more than worth every single penny.
8532 is our Disney Magic home away from home. |

Notes: This is one of the 3 triple wide mid-ship Cat 3 suites. The pull down murphy bed is in the living room (instead of the master bedroom like the other Cat 3 suites). The master bedroom area featured a large bed, chair, door to verandah, TV, make up desk, double vanity, full size jacuzzi tub, separate toilet and shower, and a huge walk in closet with a chest and safe.
As you enter the suite, there is a separate bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower. Across from the bathroom is a large closet. There is also a small ledge/desk area and mirror that is great for keeping important paperwork. The concierge use this space for all their notes.
The living room had a sleeper sofa, 2 chairs, coffee table, 2 end tables, a small round dining room table with 4 chairs, TV, VCR, stereo, CD player, wet bar, fridge unit, 2 doors out onto the verandah, and lots of storage.
The verandah is also triple wide and featured 2 chairs, a small table and a chaise lounge.
The suite has lots of great artwork and Disney stuff. There is also a doorbell which is really needed because the suite is so large.
Location of this suite is great. You are right off of the mid-ship elevators and stairs on deck 8. It is very convenient to get anywhere on the ship or to run back to the room if you are up by the pools. We had no problem with noise from the elevators or stairs.
As for noise, you will hear noise from deck 9 at times. You can hear kids running around and also music at night if the verandah door is open. There is also a fair amount of "creaking" with all the woodwork if you get into some rougher seas (10-12' or more).
The suite was in great shape and everything worked fine. The bed was a little too soft/worn out compared to our last stay in 2002 on the Wonder.
Thise suite is great for a family of 4 with smaller children. Plenty of room for all your stuff. Put the kids to bed early with a movie (borrow from concierge) while you will still have full access to your master bedroom, bathroom and the verandah. We love this suite!
