    Riverhill - First, let me say, I booked this reservation for a few reasons. One, because my daughter has been raving about the Lobster Burger since she had it a year ago, we were on the dinning plan and it was 1 table service (don’t judge) and I like resort dinning and I hate buffets which eliminated 1900 Park Fare, not there is anything wrong with 1900 PF if you like character dinning, and waiting in line, behind a 7 year old with no parents in sight, for your food. Okay enough of my personal hang-ups here is my thoughts on Grand Floridian Café. The evening we went, it was nearly half-empty, decided for yourself why. This was our first night in Disney and even though I do not drink in my everyday life while on vacation, let us just say I am on vacation! I ordered the Blue Glowtini, mostly for the lighted ice cube, which I find delightful. Our server was very nice and throughout our meal kept our glasses full, and checked in with us enough to let us know she wanted us to have and nice meal without becoming my new BFF. I ordered the Pan roasted Chicken Breast. Both kids, ages 17 and 15 order the Lobster burger. My husband ordered the New York Strip. My son was not crazy about the burger. It may have been that his expectations were too high, based on his sister’s constant raving over the last year. He felt it was okay but not his favorite. My daughter still liked the burger but did not feel it measured up to her recollection of the previous year. The red onion marmalade not to her liking. My husband was thrilled with the New York Strip. At this point, let me just say my husband loves food! Not in the way, a food critic loves food but in the way, that a man who’s wife for the past 20 years has for the most part served him a rotation of the same 10 basic meals loves food. His favorite part of vacation is the food and being able to eat on a regular basis whatever he wants. The chicken in the Pan Roasted Chicken Breast was wonderful! The Mushroom Risotto was over cooked, and was more like a lump of sticky dough. The basic flavor was there but the texture was dreadful. It may be the Glowtini talking but I still enjoyed our meal. The restaurant is clean, the staff was efficient, and at no time did we feel rushed to make our table available for the next guest. I would go back again, order another drink and enjoy my meal with my family in a wonderful resort.

    fosm001 - We ate here in November 2011 for my birthday before we headed back home. I had the steak and it was very good. My DD had the kids steak and it was very tender - it may have be a filet also the chicken noodle soup she got was very good as well. It was just as good as homemade soup. My DH liked his as well, can't remember what he had. We did not try any of the desserts because we had ordered from the bakery there. The cake was WONDERFUL as well.

    mlm5l - The Grand Floridian is a beautiful hotel, while this restaurant was nice to look at, the food was just bad. Of all the places we ate on the sit down dining plan, this was the biggest disappointment. The Grand Floridian Cafe is a glorified diner and a bad one, skip it.

    ead79 - On a whim, my husband and I decided to have dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe one evening when we were too tired to return to the parks. We were able to walk up with no reservation and be seated promptly. I had heard mixed reviews of this restaurant, but it was convenient so we decided to give it a try. To my surprise, I had the BEST pork chop I have had in ages! It was served with delicious roasted corn (pan-roasted, not roasted on the cobb), snap peas, and cherry tomatoes. It was cooked perfectly and was probably the dining highlight of my entire trip. My husband wasn't as hungry, so he had the chicken entree. He said the chicken was juice and had nice flavor. My vegetable-hating husband even enjoyed the accompanying veggies. He said the next time he would like to try one of their steaks instead, since his chicken was good but not memorable. We were both too full for dessert, but now a meal at the Grand Floridian Cafe is high on our to-do list on our next trip!

    downsouthca - Great value for disney dining plan. The Pork chop, NY Strip, and SpiceDusted Tuna was excellent. Shrimp penne pasta was very ordinary. Loved the dessert sampler, another great DDP value. our server was attentive and helpful. Plus the GF is great to walk around and sightsee. only neg is that self-service is a pain to park for hotel.

    Disney-Obsessed - The food at the Grand Floridan Cafe was the delicious; best meal of the trip, but the service was very slow. The couple sittin beside us actually left... Make reservations asap...

    irishtigger - 5/15 Breakfast after we requested a new table out of the corner and got one of the many open ones by the window everything went smoothly. They were having issues with their diet coke machine and the waitress was nice enough to tell me ahead of time so that I could order something else to drink. They fixed the machine and she brought me the diet to try and it was still WAY to syrupy. We both had the Mickey waffle and it was perfect. I will definitely eat here again. I was quick and we were able to get out to the parks early that morning.

    Joolish1313 - We loved this place, but they changed the menu so much that we don't eat anything on it any more. When we did go, the service was so-so. The Shrimp and Penne Pasta, not tasty. The whole thing tasted like a giant chicken sausage (yuck). The dish should be called Shrimp and Chicken Sausage Penne, since there like 4 shrimp and a boat load of sausage pieces. The dish this one replaced, with shrimp, proscutto and asparagus was so much better.

    edithkitty - me and my boyfriend have stayed at grand floridian so we are conveniences to eat breakfast here, but the waitress is not nice, looks like we don't have money to be there.but i think she is not well train, no smile, mean voice, this place is grand floridian, they should provide the best services. OK? may be she just thinks because we are chinese young couple, so she doesn't get any tips.well.she should think of who will be eat breakfast here, people that willing to pay for $50 dollars for breakfast everyday, for 2 people. thats why all the other days we eat different character breakfast and private dining instead of.what a bad services here.

    Madi100 - We tried this restaurant only for the location. We are not big on fancy and dressing up, so this was perfect. Park attire was great. As it was only adult, we also did not want a meal with characters. Our service was good. I am a rather picky eater, and I found only a couple things I would eat,but was happy with my selection. Others in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meal.

    msc_idiot - The food was fantastic in every way - especially the cheese soup. The room is absolutely beautiful, from the huge windows to the fresh cut roses. It is one of the most relaxing, refreshing places in the entire World.

    rtobe - The lunch menu has a lot of variety from salads and burgers to a full sized entree. Dinner is good as well, nothing spectacular as a signature dish here but all was good. If you were thinking of dropping in for quick lunch you may be disappointed unless you let your server know up front as the pace is leisurely. The service was not slow - it was table service, and there was not a rush to get you in and out.

    Daycounter - Nothing really separates this restaurant from any other of its type. If you like restaurants like Marie Calendars or Steak and Ale, you'll probably like this restaurant. I had the steak, it was decent but nothing to daydream about. The restaurant was very unremarkable (but that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just very ordinary so it'll probably appeal to a lot of palettes). The atmoshphere is a little plain. The prices are not too bad.

    mmmears - We've had lunch here a few times. It's always been good, mostly had the sandwiches and burgers, and the french onion soup. We go there when we're tired of fancy restaurant food and want something really good, but simple. Also, we've had good luck walking up without an ADR at the GFC.


Elegant yet unpretentious, the Grand Floridian Cafe is a delightful restaurant. The Victorian motif features lovely florals and muted tones. A wall of windows overlooks the courtyard of the Grand Floridian Resort.
