    chum - The ambience is fantastic. The setting created here is unmatched in all of WDW. The tequila bar is a hidden gem. Add the charming Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride and it's the complete package. The food has had a bad rap until 2011. I can now say that this place should be awarded "Most Improved". The soups, salads and entrees are all a step up from past menus. The prices are up too but it carries more value now. A table by the water is recommended.

    SydneyFalco - We were a married Canadian couple travelling the first week of December. Eight nights, deluxe dining plan. In a truly startling and unexpected turn of events the food at San Angel Inn took top honors on our eight night trip! A trip that was otherwise full of signature restaurants. Huh. It's been our tradition to visit San Angel Inn every trip. The tradition began as homage to our very first trip and has proceeded mostly out of nostalgia, since San Angel Inn's food has ranged from mediocre to okay to occasionally off-putting for some people travelling with us. This time out, it was the best meal we had in a trip that included Narcoosee's, The Flying Fish and Jiko's. The quesadia appetizer I had (which does not appear right now on the online menu) was the best thing I ate all week. It didn't resemble what I'd think of as a quesadia, but who cares? It amazed me, and the wife tried to steal it, even though her app was great, too. Our mains were great too. I had the pollo; can't recall for the wife. Look, I make no promises. I could be reporting a UFO/Sasquatch type of deal here. This place *still doesn't* serve tex mex of pop mex, which I'm sure will irk people, and its still not the most kid-friendly restaurant around, judging from reactions around us, but we were knocked out.

    zpbarn01 - An amazing atmosphere complimented by very good Mexican fare. Took my girlfriend here in June of 2012 and we both loved it. We are huge Mexican food fans so, we may be biased. It can be a very romantic meal. Wouldn't recommend for big parties as seating is extremely cramped. It is also extremely dark and they will provide flash lights to read the menu if needed. To me, you don't get much more of a unique experience than dining next to a Disney attraction.

    mlm5l - The decor of the restaurant is very unusual, which is the reason my family ate here. For dinner I had a steak, which was small and dry. It was the same exact steak I was served at the Japanese restaurant. My wife had the chicken enchaladas, which were pretty good. The rice served with the dinners was also dry. It's a nice place to eat the staff is very polite. I would recommend eating here just to say you did, but stick with the mexican dishes.

Trying to figure out away to eat there again without the kids. I did the pre fixe meal and it was a lot of food.

    mackiemom3 - Never got to try the chips and salsa since our server forgot to bring them to us. Brought my husband his salad and two minutes later our entree's. My dish tasted like creamed onions. it was inedible and I only ate two bites before having to put my fork down. The server never checked on us and while I was in the bathroom he removed my plate and never mentioned the uneaten food. I know I should have spoken up but it had been a long day and I didnt want to hunt him down. We showed our displeasure in our lack of a quality tip.

    Kitty347 - If you're looking for Tex-Mex or Mexican fast food, go to a chain restaurant like Chili's or Taco Bell. The food here is definitely for a more adventurous(perhaps sophisicated) palate. I don't know if the food is "authentic" Mexican food or not. I'm from New England where Mexican restaurants are hard to find and those we do have tend to be along the Taco Bell line with a little up-grading. Hey! It's what people want and expect from a Mexican restaurant. All I can say is, the food is wonderful, especially the Pollo a las Rajas...SO good! And not spicy (ie. hot). This is my family's all-time favorite restaurant at EPCOT and we eat there every time we're in Florida. The food is excellent with complex flavors. Maybe spiced (not necessarily hot)food is not your thing. We're from a Portuguese background and are used to using many spices (and peppers) in our cooking which makes most food we come across at the parks seem bland by comparison. Read over the menu before you decide on this restaurant, especially if you have kids. The menu for them is limited. But I definitely recommend the San Angel Inn.

She was full of life, and always made sure our drinks were filled, and service was prompt. The food itself was OK, but I would go back simply for the experience!

    DisneyFamily123 - Dec. 2010 -- The service here was great! And we enjoyed how the theme ties in with the rest of the Mexico attractions. Be sure to ride the 3 Caballeros boat ride and look for Donald Duck. The restaurant overlooks part of the boat ride. We enjoyed all our food. Have a magarita too!

    SydneyFalco - ur third time dining here. We were a group of 11. The San Angel Inn is by far the most atmospheric and engaging pavilion dining available at EPCOT. The tables are a bit cluttered, but if you end up in a booth or at a long table, it's without a doubt one of the coolest and niftiest places to eat in all the parks. We've been three times in the last three years and service has always been polite, but never warm or outstanding. The reason is that the servers don't always have the best English and a mariachi band is playing nearby. So bear in mind: you WILL have to repeat yourself from time to time. The Inn's food gets a lot of bad press, not all of it deserved. The menu is (I can only guess) pretty authentic Mexican. It's certainly not Tex Mex. The flavours in use are pretty grown-up and subtle; NOT the ultra-sweet, ultra-salty "pop Mexican" a lot of North Americans are used to. From what I've personally observed of many neighbouring tables over the years, it's easily one of the least kid-friendly restaurants in the parks . Entrees are typically sauce-heavy and range from innocuously to fairly heavily seasoned. The sides are really uninspired, but then, it's Mexico, so, y'know, rice. In our parties, fish dinners have been better received than chicken or beef. Avoid the dense bread pudding if you've had a large entree. It tastes good, but you won't feel like getting up any time soon. For the price, the Inn's cuisine is a little too far from inspired--that's about the most damning thing to be said. There's little here for the foodie and nothing for the pop Tex Mex fan. Still, the Inn's worth a visit, at least once, especially if you're on the dining plan and can shrug off the overpriced entrees. If they ever revamped their menu, this place would be the hit of the Showcase restaurants.

    ~CherryCakes~ - our whole famaly loved this place, it's the first time we've ever eaten here. We got tables right next to the fencing that overlooks the little boat ride, which was lovely :). they brought out salsa and chips to our table whilst we decided what we wanted.My Mum and my Brother both had the Mole Poblano, which they both loved. My sister and I had the Pollo a las Rajas, which was to die for, I ended up eating what Sasha left because she'd piged out on the chips and salsa. As the Desserts change often, i think we might just have been a bit unlucky. Everything was made with white chocolate, which i despise, :/ so not so good for us on the dessert front, but thats just because we're picky.

    disneydorks - We have eaten at San Angel Inn almost ever trip we go to Disney World. The setting inside is the most awesome place in on the entire Disney property. When you walk in you are instantly transported to an beautiful evening in a Mexico Village. It is so realistic (a couple of margairtas and you may be trying to figure out how your plane landed in Mexico not Orlando, LOL, but you feel that you could really be there. If you are looking for a romantic place to have a dinner with a special someone, or looking for a place to relax after a hectic day in the park this is the place. Also if you are traveling with kids that can't stand to wait more than a second for anything having the ride in the building is great because you can take them on it over and over if you have to wait. (and if you get stuck on the ride for a few minutes once your pager goes off the wait staff more than understands and holds the table for you) When you sit down they give you chips and salsa ( the cups are a little to small for me but the salsa and chips are fresh). The menu is very good, some of the items sound a little strange but I literally think I have at least had a bite of almost everything and never found one I don't like. The Sopa Azteca is great i love it. Mahi-Mahi Veracruz Very Good Margaritas Are Great Too.

    Linn Orris - Food choices very limited. Best to be sure that ALL attendees like Mexican fare, as there are no other choices, especially for kids. We ate lunch. Atmosphere great, service good, but this is not a place to split a meal, as portions are smaller. Steak tacos good. We ate at many sit-down places, and this one was just average to us.

    xipetotec - I don't know if the menu has changed in recent years, but we went here with a group of 20, and we all loved this place. Even the more finicky "meat and potatoes" guys in our group found something they loved. I had the steak with the stuffed pablano pepper ( which by the way was AWESOME ) and a dos equis amber. Finished it off with the caramel bread pudding for dessert. The server was polite, handled our big group with ease, explained every dish and recommended dishes for those who did or did not want spicy food. and the atmosphere just can't be beat. My father got all reminiscent of his days working in Peru ( not that this is Peru, but it reminded him of evenings eating by the stars in south America ). Love this place, will definitely go back.

    irishtigger - The setting is really nice and gives you the chance to sit and catch a break from the craziness outside. Our server was friendly and nice and put up with can we get this without. We choose this place to get the special seating tickets for choir during christmas. However, I had eaten here before and really enjoyed it however it wasn't until I got back that I read that they had changed the menu which really is unforunate the old menu had a lot of different options and I liked it a lot better. I would recommend this place but make sure you read the menu before you go

    spenn - I'm a bit surprised by the negative reviews because this was such a good experience for my family back in August 2009. We showed up without reservation, put our names down, did the tres amigos ride and were all seated when we got back. Our server was outstanding. he explained to my picky mother the details of all the dishes she was considering, and he was understanding and kind to my little sister. Not only was her stomach acting up, but her knee was giving her issues so she was wheel-chair bound and going to the bathroom every half hour. The waiter immediately boxed her lunch and brought out more chips so that she could have something bland and constantly checked in on us. I loved my food, and he made sure it was cheese-free since i'm lactose intolerant (which was really nice of him). I would love to go back this spring on my senior trip there!

    tiki23 - I wish that reviewers would remember that there are many different regions of Mexico with different styles of dishes, just as there are in the U.S. Our party of 9 dined at San Angel Inn September 2009. Everyone enjoyed their meal but none more so than my sister and I. We ordered Chiles en Nogada. This is a very traditional dish for special occasions made with walnut cream sauce - you aren't going to find that at Taco Bell or in many Tex-Mex restaurants. We loved our experience and will be returning.

    Joolish1313 - We ate here becuase we slept through our dinner ressie; it was the the only one open. We really liked the atmosphere, it was intimate. The fresh chips and salsa were awesome; we had the mahi mahi over rice, which was tasty and light. The dessert was good, I think we split a rice pudding and a vanilla ice cream. For a place we didn't plan to go to , it was really good. Highly recommend it if you are debating on trying it.

    ALISONX80 - My boyfriend and I decided to try despite all the bad reviews. So glad we did! Chips and salsa-chips are fresh and not too salty. Salsa is very fresh. Presentation is nice. Margaritas-Jalopeno margarita-my bf loved it and I even tasted it even though I'm not big on jalopenos and it was pretty good. I ordered the blood orange marg. which was too strong for me and wasnt sure about the taste, gave it to my boyfriend and he loved it. Instead I had the regular margarita and it was great. Entrees-I can't remember what my bf had but know he liked it, I had the Chicken Enchiladas with Verdes Sauce. Loved it! So much food but I ate it all which is a testament bc I dont usually overeat. Beans that come with it are refried black beans which are delish. My only prob was that it didnt come with more. Next time I will get a double order of beans instead of the rice bc I don't like mexican rice. I did taste the rice which was well made, not too dry or sticky. Basically mexican rice with peas. Dessert-I was too full to eat the provided bday vanilla icecream but it tasted like it was made with real vanilla bean. Our waiter was an older Mexican man who was very attentive and pleasant. Will definitely be going back next month when there.

    dwheaton - The Mexico pavillion is one of the best themed areas in World Showcase. It effectively combines the shops, boat ride, and restaurant into a single experience. The Cantina de San Angel provides one of the best atmospheres of any Epcot restaurant. The dim lighting and impressive theming nicely convey the feeling of a night out in Mexico. But there are serious negatives that can't allow me to recommend this restaurant. The food is consistently disappointing, even with safe options that your local chain can do. Also, the tables are extremely close together, which creates a slightly claustrophic feeling. It's a real shame, as this wonderful location should deliver a "can't miss" experience. A smart move would be to scrap the menu and hire an experienced, creative chef to start over. There's almost no way the meals could be worse.

    Rainkiss - Nobody who's seen the place can say it's not beautiful. We got a lovely little (and I do mean little, unfortunately, very small table) right up against the rail overlooking the water. The food wasn't BAD... but it was disappointing. Not authentic Mexican I could deal with... but it was definately not up to what I expect at EPCOT, particularly during the Food and Wine festival. Bland is the best I can come up with to describe it. Hy husband, who particularly asked for dinner here after he saw it our last trip, was just as disappointed.

    StacyLovesTheMouse - Dined here for my birthday back in April 2009. Their menu is obviously not authentic Mexican food and that would be okay if it were good. I was very dissapointed when our food arrived. I cant remember the exact dishes we ordered, but I did order a side of Mexican rice. I knew it came with peas, but the waitress assured me that there were not that many peas in it. She was wrong! I didnt even eat the rice because I cant stand peas and I couldnt get around eating them. The flavors were not good and I have had much better Mexican food at a little hole in the wall place in Jacksonville. Our bill was around $60.00-70.00 and that dissapointed me even more after not having a good experience. It is a shame because the restaurant is beautiful and the environment makes you want to hang around in there all day! I really wish Disney would update the food there and make it more authentic.

    Disney Dork in DFW - My wife and I ate lunch here on August 4th, and we were very pleasantly surprised. First, anyone who has ever set foot in the Mexico Pavilion would have to agree that it is among the most spectacularly themed locales Disney has ever created. We were lucky enough to score a table for two off in the corner right next to the river (which remained quiet and isolated until the dessert course, when a family with three children under the age of 10 was seated next to us. You pays yer quarter, you takes yer chances, I spose!) With the twilight-style lighting, the boats drifting by and Mayan pyramid against the volcanic backdrop , it is probably the most romantic place to dine in all of Walt Disney World that does not require the sale of a kidney to afford a meal. The meal begins with the standard Mexican restaurant fare of chips and dip. The chips are light, crispy and not too salty. The dip was especially good. Rather than the Pace-style hot sauce that one might expect, it is instead a fresh, chunky pico de gallo that boasts a refreshing but not overly spicy flavor. My wife ordered the Pollo a las Rajas. It consisted of a properly cooked chicken breast (not dry like chicken can often be) over Poblano rice, which I thought was good, although she did not care for it. Her dessert was homemade vanilla ice cream topped with an outstanding milk caramel sauce. Overall, she enjoyed her meal, and she is generally not a fan of Mexican food. I chose to begin my meal with Margarita San Angel Inn, which contained just the right mixture of tequila and Triple Sec. It was served on the rocks and definitely hit the spot on a hot day in Central Florida. For my meal, I went with the Tampiquena con Chilaquiles. The steak was tender, juicy and more accurately cooked than steaks I had ordered from both Narcoossee’s and Le Cellier. It was accompanied by the fried tortilla chips mixed with onions, sour cream, cheese and a zesty green sauce. Refried black beans were served as well, and they proved to be a tasty fire extinguisher for the peppers contained within the green sauce. For dessert, I chose the Flan, vanilla custard served with roasted almonds and caramel sauce. It was also very good. The service was also solid. We never had to ask for a drink or chips refill, and our waiter was very personable. Overall, we left feeling very pleased with our meal. Frankly, having grown up in Texas my whole life, I felt that the choices were closer to authentic Mexican food than mere Tex-Mex. There are no nachos, traditional tacos or quesadillas, for instance. Ultimately, we feel that this restaurant’s seemingly poor reputation is entirely undeserved. Given the opportunity, we would happily dine there again.

    luna99 - I hate to say this becuase the atmosphere at this restaurant is wonderful, but the food here is not good. I have tried it twice and both times was sorely disappointed. It is NOT traditional mexican/tex mex type food but more like real mexican food from mexico and many people do not even know what to order. The tables are so close together and you feel very squished in your seat. If they could make the food better and space out the seats more it would be so much better!

    PIRATEGIRL007 - San Angel Inn was one of my favorite Epcot resturaunts a few years ago. They have underwent management changes and updates to the menu and I'm just not that impressed anymore. The last trip when we ate there the food was just so-so. It was nothing better than your average Mexican resturaunt and at the prices you pay it should be well above average. The only reason to slap down the money for San Angel Inn versus the Taco Stand outside is the nice break in the cold air conditioning in the middle of the summer heat. Head to the Taco Stand instead and you will save money and can get the same food with a few less selections (espically at lunch).

    bbb37 - It's hilarious to me that everyone gets so upset that restaurants in Epcot are not 'authentic'. Guess what... the structure that houses the restaurant is not authentic, the 'Mexico' outside is not authentic and the country next door is not authentic. Come on people, it's Disney. You already know you're going to pay high prices for corporate food. If you need authentic Mexican food, bring an authentic Mexican person on vacation with you and have them cook your meals. I especially love the poster that hangs out with Mariachis in his hometown and lives near Linda Ronstadt. What does that mean? Who care about Linda Ronstadt? If you have great authentic Mexican food at home, why would you go to a 'Mexican' restaurant at Disney World? I live in New York and have access to incredible Italian food... can you guess what I didn't eat at Disney World? That's right, Italian food. Because I knew I would be disappointed. Anyway, at the San Angel Inn, I ordered soup and duck tacos. Both were delicious. The tacos even had pineapple in them for sweetness. Not authentic, but delicious. My girlfriend's steak was also fantastic. So tender she could've cut it with a butter knife. Our server was friendly and attentive. She didn't do backflips or handstands for me, but that's ok. Like everyone else says, the atmosphere was really great. I had read awful reviews of this place, but went anyway. I'm glad I did. Maybe I realized I was at Disney World and didn't let my expectations get too high. Then again, I'm not one of those people that likes to complain about everything... especially while I'm on vacation. Enjoy!

The fact that it was so dark in there (though it helps the view of the volcano) didn't help the food at all. It just made me wonder what was on my plate. Go to shop or for the boat ride to see the volcano and pyramid, but skip the food.

We have the Mariachi conference here every year...Linda Ronstadt and her whole family live here. This is not good food at all, and I can't figure out why this nice little spot is so bad! It could be great...just pick a non anglo style! And the entertainment? Well, we have High School Groups that are ten times better.

The service was extremely slow, even with a reservation it took them 30 minutes to seat us and our waiter barely ever came to the table.     lntsmom - I booked ADR's for San Angel Inn despite warnings against doing so from other Dis boarders. My travel agent was wrong. The boardies were right. First, the chips they serve are fresh...out of the bag. If you like Tostitos, you'll be fine. Compared to the true fresh chips at WCC, these were a major disappointment. I ordered Ensalada Mexicana. It was so dark in the restaurant that I couldn't actually see the food, and sadly everything in it had the same texture and taste. My older son ordered the Pollo con Fideos. It seems they forgot to drain the spaghetti before putting it on the plate. What my son was served was chicken fingers and a pile of noodles with some chunky tomato sauce on top, all swimming in about 1/4" of spaghetti water. He was almost in tears. This is my child who hates to make a scene. He was upset that I asked the CM to take it back. She was very nice about it, bringing him a plate with double the chicken and no spaghetti at our request. My younger son ordered the Quesadilla con Pollo. He ate about two bites and pushed it away. It could have been that he was too excited to eat, but we didn't have a problem with him refusing food at any other restaurant. My suggestion would be to go for dessert and drinks if you want time to sit and enjoy the atmosphere here. Really, though, you can enjoy the market and ride and not waste your time and money at the restaurant. This is one restaurant that we will never visit again!

    xipetotec - This is a very small restaurant, makes it hard to get a table. We found ouselves waiting a while for our table as well. ( Thank goodness for the surrounding area being an attraction in itself while waiting ). The restaurant itself is inside the Mayan pyramid ( with another pyramid nearby along the river of the ride ). Very beautiful setting, great place for a dinner for two. The food was not the best Mexican food I've had, but didn't find it as bad as many seem to think. We make a point of leaving the kids with gramma and going just the two of us every trip.

    OKW Lover - Bottom line, you can get better mexican food in your home town. The tables are crammed into this space, which detracts from what would otherwise be a nice, romantic atmosphere. Over multiple visits, we've found service to be a bit on the slow side but the real disappointment has been the food. It appears that its been "dumbed down" to a bland consistency. This is compounded by it being only luke warm by the time you get it. On the plus side, the salsa and corn chips are a great way to take the edge off your hunger.

    Carolinagal - The San Angel Inn remains a disappointment as the food just doesn't taste very good. We have tried so hard to find dishes that are acceptable, but are disappointed time and again. Even the careful application of margaritas doesn't make up for the general blandness of the meals. We find that we usually have the added bonus of indigestion after we eat. The children's menu offers fish and chicken, and makes an attempt to provide kid-friendly food. But, as my daughter said "How can they mess up a Quesadilla?". The sides are little plastic fruit cocktail, bland soggy vegetables, and what has to easily be the worst Mexican rice I have ever eaten. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous, and it is a shame that the food doesn't take advantage of the showcase. The wait staff is pleasant and responsive, but not overly concerned with diner's experiences. I look forward to the day when someone finally takes ober this restaurant and gives it the respect it deserves


At the San Angel Inn you'll be dining in perpetual twilight. The subdued lighting provides an intimate and romantic setting. There's a wrought iron rail along the rear of the restaurant which overlooks the water. When seated in this section, you can watch the boats from the Rio Del Tiempo attraction go by.

Mexican tile floors and stucco walls add to the authentic atmosphere. While sipping your Margarita and enjoying your meal, you'll feel as if you're at a Hacienda.
