Rating: 10.0 - 08/13 lauran - I was very hesitant because of the reviews, but went and booked it for my boring eater of a husband's birthday dinner. I am so glad I did. We had an amazing meal. We were seated next to the aquarium wall. The restaurant is beautiful and it wasn't noisy even though it was packed. We ordered the grilled mahi mahi and the new york strip and added grilled lobster tails with cilantro butter to both our meals. The service was excellent. My husband's dessert, the Bailey's and Jack Daniels mousse, came decorated for his birthday. I tried the Chocolate Wave, it was extremely rich just so you know. The children's menu is a typical Disney offering. My child loved the Coral Reef Nemo brownie. He still talks about it.
Rating: 8.0 - 04/13 Crisv67 - We visited Coral Reef on March 28th, 2013. Our dinner was excellent. Service was great. The chocolate wave dessert was delicious. We look forward to return to this restaurant in our next visit.
Rating: 3.0 - 03/13 kauzlab - I was very disappointed in the crab cakes appetizer which was tasty but SO small. The 2 crab cakes were the size of silver dollars and they were $11.99
Rating: 9.0 - 01/13 DopeyDame - Walking into Coral Reef always makes me calm down right away. It's dark and cool and such a nice break from the heat and chaos outside in the park. It's the perfect respite to refresh and have a fantastic rest of the day.
Rating: 7.0 - 01/13 oneboyonegirl1 - The kids loved watching the tank while waiting for our food (which too awhile). There were 20 divers in the tank who were also interacting with the diners. My husband and mom ordered and loved the glazed salmon. Kids liked their meals too.
Rating: 8.0 - 10/12 cheshirecatattack - Had dinner at this restaurant Oct 25/12 as a party of three adults. Our reservation was for 6pm and we were seated at 6:05pm. We each started with the Caesar salad which was nice and fresh. We each ordered the lobster orecchiette pasta, the short ribs and the steak as entrees. The pasta was full of lobster meat and had a full lobster flavour. The short ribs were flavourful and fork tender and the steak was good as well. We all ordered the blood orange cheesecake and it was light and creamy. The only con to the meal was there was a big gap in between salad and entrees and then to get our dining card back at the end of the meal. I would recommend this restaurant if you are on the dining plan and like seafood, since you can probably get a better steak elsewhere. But for people on the dining plan, the atmosphere makes it worth a trip.
Rating: 9.0 - 09/12 xCourxCorex - Diners: Myself (22) and Boyfriend (24) on the Regular Dining Plan (paid ~$20/per person per day; upgrade from Free QS plan with our reservation package).
We dined here 9/16 and had ADRs for 6:30. We checked in just before 6:30 although there was quite a bit of a line/wait at the counter. We probably only waited around 5 minutes or so to be seated after we checked in. The location is wonderful, and our seats were very close to the tank, although somewhat awkwardly situated between the first tier of booths and the tables directly next to the tank. It almost felt like we were in the way in the middle of the aisle at some points.
I noticed quite a few children here (not a bad thing!) but this resulted in a noisy dining experience. The kids would come down right to the tank for pictures and looking, so that is something to be aware of if you are seated close to the tank.
The experience was wonderful, despite the noise. Our host provided us with a booklet fish guide to help decipher the types of fish in the tanks, and we were able to see the turtle, several sharks, rays and lots of varieties of fish.
We had the Fish Tostadas to start, which were excellent. 3 per plate, the shells/bottom portion were crunchy, and the fish and cilantro were very fresh.
I had the seasonal catch, which was Corvina, which came with basil risotto and bay scallops and a warm tomato salad. I ate every single bite, it was that good! The corvina was a mild white fish but was cooked perfectly, and had a nice crust on the outside. The basil risotto was my favorite part. Although the bay scallops are tiny, they were also very good as was the tomato salad.
My boyfriend had the grilled Mahi Mahi, which came with Jasmine rice and small shrimp. It was also very good (he ate every bite too!)
For dessert I had the chocolate wave, which reminded me of a lava cake. Chocolate cake with a more moist/gooey center, raspberry sauce/puree? and some raspberry gelato. All delicious. Bf had the Bailey's and Jack Daniel's mousse. He and I both enjoyed the Baileys portion, but agreed that the whiskey part was not great.
Our server was Michele, and she was, overall, one of the best waitresses we had all trip! Service was a teensy bit slow at the beginning, but she was super attentive with our meals and drinks.
We took advantage of 1 TS credit for this meal, so we paid only $8.99+ tax for the appetizer (tostadas) plus gratuity. IMO it was a great value for the plan!
Rating: 7.0 - 08/12 stewoo - Ever since I saw the episode of Full House where Danny Tanner ate hear with Vicki I've wanted to eat here. Maybe that is why my expectations were a little too high.
The food was good. I got the chicken because it seemed a little weird to me to eat fish while watching them swim.
I would have liked to be closer to the aquarium but it certainly was very very cool! Everyone I ate with was pretty content with their food. Content-but not overly impressed is the key.
Honestly I'd agree with other posters saying this place is worth checking out for yourself if you have an interest in it. It does seem to be a little hit or miss, for me it was mostly a hit.
If you're going solely for the aquarium, keep in mind that you can walk through and look at it at the Nemo and Friends pavilion, still is a decent place though.
Rating: 6.0 - 06/12 moneys11 - Did not wait long for table, we were a lil early for our reservation. We were sat at a awesome view of aquarium. I ordered a glass of wine that was recommended for my meal. I had to ask for it twice. He thought I wanted with the meal. I wanted it before. He did get it to me, after I asked. Food was just OK. I have to say I would not go back. I just found other places @ Epcot that I prefer to eat @ more.
I used these reviews from this site but decided to try for myself
I do suggest u do the same
Rating: 7.0 - 12/11 jmartin42 - We had an early dinner reservation and were seated very quickly, never even had to sit down to wait. We were placed in a round booth very close to the aquarium. The kids had a good time looking at the fish and waving at the divers. My DH ordered the steak and thought it was good. He wasn't very fond of the sides though. I had the lobster ravioli which was very good but such a small portion that I was still hungry after dinner. One of the main problems was that the server apparently forgot about our table. We never got refills and were done eating for quite a while when she finally came back to bring desert. The desert was the highlight of the meal. My DH got the chocolate wave and I got the Jack Daniels desert. Both were excellent. I will go back remembering to make it a day where we have a good lunch and hoping that our server remembers we are there.
Rating: 10.0 - 09/11 StarRiDust - This restaurant is now my absolute favorite. The aquarium view is just gorgeous and I had my most amazing meal there! And their cheesecake napoleon is incredible!!
Rating: 7.0 - 09/11 mom24kids81 - This was our third visit and not sure if we'd come back.
Maybe because of the dining plan popularity it was just SO noisy/loud. In the past we had enjoyed a very nice dining atmosphere and service.
After our dinner was brought to us, and not by the waiter, he seemed to just disappear from us and other tables around us. Never once came to see how our food was or drink refills. A table by us were just sitting there, and someone noticed and asked them if they needed anything and they said dessert and finally then did our waiter appear. No explanations when he came to our table, only "are you ready for dessert".
I was a waitress before, I'm sure fellow servers know what I mean, I just refuse to leave a 15% or more tip for awful service. Little discussion bet. DH and myself, we left 10% more than generous!!
Our meals were just delicious though, good thing. Our DD really enjoyed her Lobster Ravioli, wished there were more.
Really disappointed how this turned out, if not on the dining plan why risk paying $$$ for a meal here when there are so many better choices at Epcot.
I give it a seven because our food was well prepared and the fish are fun to watch.
Rating: 5.0 - 07/11 MarliesMommy13 - I have been here twice, once on our honeymoon, and another when our daughter turned 2. Both times I was not impressed. We decided to return for a second time because we thought our daughter would enjoy seeing the fish. She did, but our hopes that the food would be better was not met. We had a horrible waitress that seemed to forget we were there. I rarely complain about anything Disney, but the food here needs to match up to its decor
Rating: 9.0 - 07/11 mom_of_2 - We LOVED this restaurant. The food was outstanding! The service was great. Our waitress was wonderful and really tended to my children (3 and 1). My kids loved watching the fish in the aquarium that surrounds the restaurant. We were celebrating a birthday and they made it extra special.
Rating: 8.0 - 05/11 TXDad811 - I had read some reviews on here before going, and was really worried. However, I had a good experience overall. The service is slow. The waiter said it was their computer system which is so slow. On the bright side, we had no wait time to get a table. The fish tank is cool, and the food was great. I have a lot of allergies in my family and the restaurant was accomodatinng (as all of them are). However, my sister and her gluten allergy really enjoyed it.
Rating: 5.0 - 05/11 MumsyHopkins - While I enjoyed the decor and the food, the service left much to be desired. I did not receive bread until after my entree was served, the table next to me was vacated shortly after I sat down, and remained uncleared until after my dessert arrived. Also, I sat with an empty beverage glass for 10 minutes.
I ate here previously with one of my daughters and had a thoroughly delightful meal.
Rating: 4.0 - 05/11 DeidreAnn - Just got back from Disney a few days ago, and The Coral Reef was our last dinner out. We were disappointed. The past few times I've been, I felt like service and food quality were flagging. Now I'm certain of it.
Our server was absent and inattentive. The support staff were wonderful, though -- those who seated us and brought our food from the kitchen.
The meal was ... not great. I had the strip steak, and about half of the portion was inedible -- gristle and fat. Two others had the lobster ravioli -- it was "just okay." Another in our party had the steak, too, and much of hers was also inedible. We had one chicken-eater; she said she liked it. The final member had a fish special ("It's like swordfish," said the server), it it was "fine."
Side dishes: The spaetzle was a big hit, and I enjoyed my horseradish mashed potatoes, but most of the other sides served went uneaten.
Desserts were as wonderful as I remembered -- I had a whiskey/Irish cream mousse. YUM! There was also a passionfruit creme brulee and key lime mousse; both of those were delicious, too. One tiny complaint here: we had two kids with us, and it seemed like dessert options were limited for them because of the alcohol in some of the choices.
It makes me sad, but there's not much reason to visit the Coral Reef any more -- other than that fantastic fish tank. I remember having Dover sole served table-side -- and a lovely beef tenderloin. (sigh)
However -- despite having made all these complaints, I'd still have to say that if you haven't been to the Coral Reef, you should go at least once...and enjoy the atmosphere (if nothing else).
Rating: 8.0 - 04/11 ChamJos - Despite having a "reservation", we had over two hours additional wait to get our table. That fact that it was pouring rain and nobody who was seated wanted to leave didn't help.
Once we finally sat down, the restaurant was nice, and food was fine.
Overall I would recommend, but not as highly as others.
Rating: 2.0 - 03/11 Hunnahh - I was let down. Horribly. I championed this restaurant from the beginning. I had read such great reviews on here, and thought that this was the place to go! Upon arriving, we waited nearly an extra hour to get to our seat. We did get a great view of the tank, and with small children, that was a nice thing (seeing them see all the fish).
Our server was funny and playful, but seemed fake. Ya know how sometimes people can do that playful thing...but you can tell it's forced? Yeah. We had that.
I got the lobster bisque. And it was not good.
After that, I got the pan seared sea scallops. The scallops themselves were good. Not great. But good. As was the polenta. The mussels were disgusting.
On top of the food, the family couldn't talk to each other. It was too loud.
I would call Coral Reef...overrated.
Rating: 9.0 - 01/11 DisneyFamily123 - Enjoyable lunch here in Dec. 2010. The theme and decor is nicely done. Had a table right next to the aquarium -- all kinds of fish, rays, sea turtles, sharks. All our food was pretty good...just fine for lunch. I especially liked the NY strip.
Rating: 0.0 - 12/10 anthonyemerick - even with an advanced dining reservation it was still almost 30 mins before we were seated but once inside we were in one of the clam shell shaped tables right down in the front the kids loved the sea life right in front of them and it makes longer meals seem not so long the food was good but if you read my other reviews not a fan of crabcakes on property the seasonal catch was delicious and the risotto it was sitting on great as well chocolate wave = awesome i tried most of the other things people were eating steak ok chorizo broth amazing but if you dont like spicy dont do it mahi was great also
Rating: 9.0 - 09/10 disneygirlmass - this is on my list of places to eat, i walked inside and the aquarium that you sit around looks awesome..and they have food for those nonseafood eaters like myself
Rating: 2.0 - 08/10 azyourlily - I was really looking forward to this date w/my husband as we were told by many who work @ WDW that it was spectacular & the food was "to die for." We do live here & am directly involved with those many "advisers."
Boy, were they WRONG. That, or none of them know how to cook @ home. Maybe our downfall for this experience is that we have a household of 4 who all cook well-to include my 16 year old son.
I did have a reservation, went in 30minutes early and was seated 15minutes prior to my reservation time. That was nice. We also were about to be seated not near the aquarium window so I requested to be seated @ an available window, & that was granted. Great! So far--busy, noisy but, wonderful & exciting.
We ordered crab cakes as the appetizer= I thought they were less than appetizing by 10. My husband ate them so as not to go to waste; I had to spit out my bite. I'd swear it was tuna, not crab.
Sangria needed to be sangria...not a strong red wine with some fruit in it. I know sangria.
My husband ordered the Mahi Mahi w/ Jasmine Rice & Rock shrimp. Where to begin...1st-ROCK SHRIMP?? Not even close. Jasmine Rice- it was long grain white rice w/ parsley and some type of sauce on the side. The Mahi Mahi was flavorless, flavorless, flavorless & fishy. (there's a way to cook Mahi Mahi so you get flavor & not "fishy). Very disappointing plate for $26.00.
I ordered, for my entree, two appetizers...the Creamy Lobster Soup & Sea & Land which consisted of grilled shrimp and a bbq beef tenderloin skewer w/a creamy polenta. Now, I'm so glad I ordered appetizer size portions for my entree due to taste and price. My soup-which was revered to be so "deliciously awesome" was... not.
I've had better @ Red Lobster (not trying to be mean/sarcastic- I actually mean it). The bbq beef tenderloin skewer (2 bites size pieces) was soaked in a bbq sauce that was over powered by Chinese 5 spice. The polenta was "okay" but I ate the outer edges because the soaked beef skewer laid on top of the polenta. The shrimp skewer (2pieces) were not completely cooked and flavorless.
As for dessert...we were so completely disappointed in the meal that though I requested to dessert menu, I couldn't bring myself to order. I opted to stop by Krispy Kreme for a glazed doughnut instead. Something we haven't indulged in for over a year! We ordered a dozen, hot off the press to take home to the family and it cost less than anything on the menu!
All this being said- one has to remember that all of Disney's dining areas are really just a fancied up fast food joint with really expensive prices. Most locations, though not all, are pre made/pre frozen meals heated @ time of order. It really is just bland, expensive fast food.
In the past I've bulked at buying lobster, shrimp, fish, high end steaks etc to cook at home because of the cost. We made a decision not to "bulk" anymore, cook at home and "date" by doing other things. FIREWORKS anyone??
All said and done however- my husband and I made the best of our date regarding atmosphere & each others company. :) Sadly- I would not recommend this location to others & I'm having to rethink some of my reservations @ other locations over the next few months.
Rating: 9.0 - 07/10 toobusyimagining - Our family had a ADR for lunch at the Coral Reef, and we LOVED it! We got there right for 11:30, just as it was opening, and got in very quickly, before our 11:55 reservation. I requested a seat right by the aquarium, and we were seated right by the window! The view was spectacular! Everyone enjoyed watching the sharks and the sea turtle swim around the tank.
Three of us ordered the Mahi Mahi, which was to DIE for (I had it myself), and our last member ordered the Salmon, and enjoyed it too! We each ordered a different dessert--the Jack Daniel's Mousse (VERY good), the Chocolate Wave (my favorite), the Creme Brulee (my first time trying it, and it was excellent), and the cheesecake. All were fantastic!
It did get very busy as we were eating. I would say reservations are a must; I suggest trying to get in right at the opening, where you can ask for a closer seating to the aquarium, and get out as the afternoon rush is coming in.
All in all, it was one of our favorite meals: I'm definitely making sure we make another stop at this restaurant the next time we visit Disney! It made our day at Epcot very magical.
Rating: 10.0 - 07/10 disneydorks - I live in one of the biggest fishing areas in Florida and have eaten at some of the best fish places in the world and I have to say this ranks up there with them. The view alone is worth eating in this restaurant. We had our child with us last time and he thought it was awesome watching all of the people swim by and show off.
The food was excellent and topped with the view made for an amazing night.
RESERVATIONS ARE A MUST, You will not get seated here without reservations I watched people time after time try the same thing come in and try to get a table to be told NO.
If you can actually get a reservation here you must try it you wont be disappointed.
Oh and I only paid 50 because of the DDP
Rating: 6.0 - 07/10 Oledawg - The views were good but the food was just ok. Not enough seafood selections on menu. I ended up having a steak at the seafood resturant
Rating: 3.0 - 05/10 tammyroo - My DD and I, along with two friends, ate here last week. It was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We paid $30 for an appetizer and dessert...not worth it.
On the positive side, we were seated in the back of the restaurant but could still the aquarium well enough. Not really a bad seat in the restaurant for that.
My DD and I split an appetizer for two as our entree. It gave us samples of some of the entrees. Average is the best I can say for this dish. Our friends shared the pork loin. They did not care for the paprika crust and ended up taking it off. They said the rest of the entree was okay but didn't rave about it. For dessert, my daughter had the Chocolate Wave. It was terrible. I'm not sure what happened to this restaurant. It had better food....not great, but better. They really dumbed down this dessert. It used to have a much more artful presentation and it certainly tasted better.
Honestly, the friends picked this restaurant or we never would have gone. This is our least favorite place because we have never had good food here. Sometimes we've gotten lucky with appetizers and my DD used to love the dessert. Not anymore.
Our service was poor as well. She rarely came back to our table and I had to ask for refills on water/drinks a few times.
The only really good thing we had was the bread and butter they served prior to the meal.
If you are more interested in theming and ambiance than the quality of the food, then you might enjoy this. Otherwise, go upstairs and view the aquarium but eat somewhere else.
Rating: 7.0 - 05/10 Linn Orris - Kevin gave us the best service we had the whole week. We had a birthday girl, and even tho the reservation gal said there would be cake, this restaurant does not do that. Kevin bought her a delicious dessert anyway! Food choices are limited, but all were impressed with Mahi, swordfish, and chicken. Great atmosphere and all can see the aquarium, but it is getting a little outdated.
Rating: 3.0 - 05/10 ShaggyB - Ok first off we were on the dining plan but i remember this price because for what we got (before it was zeroed out) I felt it was insane.
I had the Grilled Mahi-Mahi and my wife had the Grilled New York Strip Steak. Both were excellent yet very very very small.
Service was great, even though the place was packed. But the first thing that struck me was the menu was small. Then our waiter, great guy, said the house specialty was the Grilled New York Strip Steak. ITS A RESTAURANT INSIDE AN AQUARIUM!!!! why is steak the best thing they have and not fish?
Why no lobster or crab entree?
I cant recommend this place... Use to be a family favorite so naturally I wanted to share that with my bride, who had never been to disney. We both decided that we can both check it as done and never go back until it has completely changed.
Rating: 8.0 - 05/10 vadisneyfam - I think this place is overlooked and way underrated. Though I have read many lackluster reviews of the Coral Reef, I thought the food was incredible. I always ask the waiter for a recommendation in a place like this, and I was very happy I went with his suggestion and got the Mahi. It was fantastic! Tons of flavor! I will say I was disappointed with the lobster soup. It was pretty blah and tasted processed. Other than that though, we loved it. Our waiter lack a certainly friendliness, but the rest of the staff was quite pleasant.
Rating: 5.0 - 04/10 sonnyeclipse - We used to love it here but have seen a noticeable decline in food quality during the last few years. It has now dropped off our "must do" list.: Posted via eTicket
Rating: 8.0 - 03/10 Mouse seeker - DDP reservation for 8:30 pm, we arrived on time to be told that it was going to be a 45min wait. Because we had the beeper, we could not go far from the door and with so many pple waiting for a table there was nowhere to sit except the ground. For those of you who have eaten here, you know that the enterance is in an out of the way spot at the side of the building, thus leaving nothing to do (or see) but listen to everyone complain about the wait.
Once inside, I was pleasently surprised with the ambiance. It was loud in the restaruant, but soothing watching all the fish swimming around in the aquarium.
I had Mahi mahi, which was good. Portion sizes could have been larger for the price.
Our server was wonderful. Apologized first off for the wait. I forgot a bag with some purchases after dinner, which I did retrieve later, but was surprised to find a message waiting for us on our hotel phone stating that they were safe and sound awaiting my return.
I would return on the dinning plan in the future but not likely if paying out of pocket.
Rating: 4.0 - 02/10 gray52 - Simply put, Coral Reef is just not a very good restaurant. Our waiter was the best we've ever had at any restaurant. Otherwise, this place would get a 1. We had ADR's here twice this trip and we all got something different, hoping to try each others meal to see what we would have the second trip.... hmmm... there was no second trip. Not one of us tasted anything we couldn't make at home. Blah. Cold. Dry.
But did i mention our waiter was awesome?
Rating: 8.0 - 01/10 bktaluvDW - We ate at Coral Reef in March of 2009. The whole restaurant is beautifully designed and decorated. The main dining room is fabulous and I do believe that there isn't a bad seat in the place!
We had an ADR for 5:55 and got seated by about 6:05. The food was very good - I had the Salmon, my teenage son had the NY Strip, and my husband had the Mahi Mahi. Our 8 year old daughter had the typical Disney kid meal and ate every bite. Everything was delicious with great presentation!
Our waiter was fabulous and gave us great suggestions on the food.
All in all, we were very happy with Coral Reef and were happy we went. The only slightly negative comment I will make is that every other Restaurant we went to at Disney was just a bit better. Nothing really blew us away at Coral Reef...but nothing was bad either :)
Rating: 9.0 - 12/09 FigmentGal96 - We had a very good experience at the Coral Reef on Friday, December 4, 2009. The weather was absolutely miserable that day- monsoon-like rain and very cold. We had a 5:25pm dinner seating, and we chose to arrive at Epcot with just enough time to get from the front gate to the Coral Reef. By the time we got there we were absolutely soaked. We checked in easily and sat in the lobby for all of about 5 minutes. My party of 3 was seated at table directly next to the tank. Our server was Hanane, and she was extremely helpful and pleasant. We were on the Dining Plan, and she made sure we knew what we could order in a very pleasant way (unlike many servers we had that week). I had the Seasonal Catch, which was Grouper that day. The fish was cooked very well, and the risotto underneath was good (but not great). My mother had the salmon, and she said it was the best thing she had eaten all week. My son had the pizza. For dessert I had the Chocolate Wave and my mother had the Almond Gelato- both of us finshed every bit. Our food came quickly and was presented beautifully. We never felt rushed. Divers were in the tank during our meal, and many of them made a point of motioning to my son to eat his food, which I very much appreciated. After a rainy, frustrating day this relaxing dinner helped up calm down, dry off, and salvage the rest of the night. I love the atmosphere here, but I do wish it was just a bit quieter. I would definitely eat at the Coral Reef again.
Rating: 9.0 - 09/09 sherrylynn99 - My family and I love this restaurant. It has become a tradition to do this each time we visit. Often there is very slow seating at the restaurant and that is very disappointing! Occasionally we also have slow service, or little service. Most of the time we have a great time and want to come again! I do find the food is bland, but of course I come from south Louisiana and everything is bland to me! The selection of entrees is ok, but I'd like to see more.
Rating: 3.0 - 08/09 ckpegasus102313 - Reading the reviews, i had high expectations for eating here on our past vacations (Aug. 09). I'm sad to say that the food I ate, was terrible. I order the steak, I figured it was a safe choice. I felt like a cow at a salt lick. I have never eaten so something so nasty. It tasted like someone poured a saltshaker over it and the potaoes looked like they were cooked in a microwave. Becaue of the acoustics were terrible. Between the yelling and the salt, I felt like someone was smashing my head into a brick wall.
Rating: 10.0 - 08/09 Cherinva - I didn't go here but 2 of my family members did. They loved it. They said the service was the best and the food was wonderful.
Rating: 8.0 - 08/09 Cap.Steamboat Willie - I had lunch at the "Coral Reef" restaurant on my August 2009 Disney trip. I've read quite a few negative comments directed at this establishment and I must admit I was a bit wary. We were a party of five adults and two children and were seated near the tank. We had a delightful lunch. The fish we ordered were prepared perfectly and the Lobster ravioli was great with plenty of chunks of claw meat on top. For lunch, the sizes of the appetizers, entrees, and desserts were just right. It is pricey but then again this is Disney. The dessert a few of us ended with was this ice cream with candied fruit cigar on top and sitting on a fruit syrup smear. The look was simply but classy and it was a perfect end to an overall good meal. I think the establishment maybe hearing all the bad press and have made changes to their staff and menu (i.e. my lobster ravioli and dessert do not appear on the menu posted on the DIS). I do not know, but from where I stand and after what I experienced, this restaurant is a totally different monster than what has been depicted on the boards. As of August I definitely would come again and recommend it to others. If Disney people are reading the reviews on this site please please please redecorate.
Rating: 8.0 - 07/09 caysee - We went to the Coral Reef for my daughter's birthday. We had a reservation for 11:30 and were seated about 11:40. To my surprise we were seated right next to the aquarium at a table for four even though there was only 2 of us. Our server was prompt to attend to us, went over all the items on the menu and took our drink orders. We had the scallops for an appetizer which were very good with a nice flavor. My daughter had the lobster ravioli and I had the Mahi Mahi. The ravoli was good and the fish was excellent. I had all the sauces put on the side which was not a problem. The portions were good and not overwhelming. Our server brought out a chocolate desert for my daughter with a candle and wished her Happy Birthday. Our server was great, didn't rush us at all and was very attentive. Overall the lunch was really good. I had read the reviews here and was very leary about eating here. It is a little pricey, but no more so than the other resturants at Disney. Overall a good experience.
Rating: 6.0 - 06/09 maroo - This atmosphere is cool and this is a good choice if you want a table service restaurant in Future World. But the food is sub-par with few menu choices.
I have been here twice and both times received good service.
Rating: 7.0 - 06/09 kramer222 - The best part of our evening was the personalized greeting from the scuba diver, which I understand they are no longer doing. The food was actually quite good - we each had seafood dishes for dinner.
The ambiance, however - yeesh. We sat by the aquarium and I was bombarded by kids running up to the glass and pushing my chair. Where these children's parents were, I don't know. Also, it was so loud in this restaurant - not the best for a romantic evening. (And with it's aquarium setting, you think it would be.)
Rating: 8.0 - 06/09 missminniemouse - We generally like this restaurant. It is a lot of fun to sit and watch the fish while you eat. Our children (ages 13 and 9) like this restaurant a lot.
We had a friend with us several years ago that didn't like his entree. He ordered lobster and didn't like the way it was prepared. He was expecting a more traditional preparation rather than the version that he got. I have to blame him somewhat for his choice, because he should have realized what he was getting by reading the menu more closely.
We have always enjoyed the food here and find it an enjoyable place to dine in EPCOT.
Rating: 7.0 - 06/09 cnorris40 - This is a ambiance restaurant, not as much a food restaurant. They could do much better with the food, but it was fairly good. We are not seafood people, so we all had steaks or chicken. The chicken breasts we ordered for the kids was a full boneless chicken breast, cooked very well and very moist. the sides left something to be desired, but that will be come a common theme. The steaks that were ordered were good, cooked to order (without issue)and of very good size. The sides were lackluster. The roasted potatoes were of small portions, very little taste, and undercooked. The waitstaff was very helpful, if not a little stuffy, and was able to get me some "cheese grits" from a different entree. Again, small portions, but had flavor... that didn't impress me much, I can buy good grits by the 10 pound bag at Walmart. Regardless of the above complaints, we did enjoy our time at the Coral Reef, and did enjoy it, the ambiance made the difference.
Rating: 9.0 - 06/09 lady_hlh - We have had dinner at the Coral Reef from 2006 through 2008. We always had very good service and our DD loved watching for the sea life in the aquariam to mark them off on her menu. One year we sat right next to the tank and there were divers who played with her through the glass. Both my DH and I have enjoyed all the seafood entrees that we have tried and I love the blackened catfish on top of cheese grits. The noise level can get quite high at times and a few times we have had to way quite awhile past our ADR time but this is one of our favorites.
Rating: 9.0 - 06/09 susiemouse - We had an excellent experience, we were seated immediately next to the tank, our waiter Jim was excellent and on top of every detail, The kids loved seeing the marine life and the divers when they held up signs for guest celebrating different events. Everyone around us was in good spirits! Definitely order the seafood, my husband had a steak and it was ok, he thought it taste the same as Canada's Le Cellier.
Rating: 5.0 - 05/09 LorilieMarie - I would go back to Coral Reef for the experience, but not the food. The atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable because of the tank. I had a hard time choosing my meal because nothing looked that great. Our party all ordered something different. It was edible, small portions, nothing special. The chocolate wave desert was a big hit with my daughter.
Rating: 9.0 - 05/09 SheenaXena21 - I've eaten here here 4 times and never had a bad experience. We always have great food. Sometimes the service sucked, but not always.
I always get a steak and they are IMO great!!! The aquarium is great, it is loud, but it's Disney.
Rating: 6.0 - 05/09 msc_idiot - The draw is obviously the aquarium, but the food is (at times) just as good. The first time we went it was absolutely great - everything we ordered was almost perfect. But the second two times we went it was disappointing. But we always leave having tried a new vegetable or other side dish that we never had before and add it to our home recipes. I just wish it was more consistant either way. Even if it was always bad, at least then we wouldn't be tempted to try it again just to see...
Rating: 8.0 - 05/09 minnie74 - I always enjoy dining here, particularly due to the atmosphere. I am not a seafood eater, except for shrimp. The last 3-4 visits, I've noticed that shrimp dishes are not on the dinner menu. Therefore, I am limited to chicken or steak. The chicken breast dish has always been great, and I really like the spaetzle. I had never tried it until my last visit, and it was really great. My most favorite item on the menu is the chocolate wave dessert. It is nice to watch the fish, and the sea turtle cruise by while you eat. If you make a late ADR for dinner or just dessert, the restaurant is less crowded and you can take more time to enjoy the aquarium.
Rating: 7.0 - 05/09 LuccaDrake - We ate here in 9/08. We had a reservation but still had to wait a few minutes before being seated. We got a great seat in a booth on the first level right across from the giant tank. They serve you bread with an olive oil/balsamic vinaigrette mixture which was good. We did not order the sad little crab cake or any other appetizers. A couple of us had the teriyaki steak and I had the mahi mahi. All of the meals were good and I especially loved the sauce that's on the mahi mahi. For dessert there are only a few choices and I had the chocolate wave. It was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Our server was great and was always there with refill on drinks before we ran out. It was a neat restaurant but was very noisy. I probably would not book this again soon as there are so many other places to try.
Rating: 5.0 - 05/09 coachsomer - I think it worth doing once, just for the views.
I don't think the food would draw you back.
We did the rides early AM. and found ourselves outside their doors around 11:30 in July and just walked in and were seated right-away. very cool seeing the fish and divers. glad we did it once just to say we did it, but won't be hurring back for another visit.
Rating: 8.0 - 05/09 pperfectmom - We loved the Coral Reef. The service was fantastic as was the view of the tanks. It is a very relaxing place to go and have a nice meal. The food wasn't the best in the world, but we enjoyed everything we ordered-crab legs, steak and kid's fish. The creme brulee was very good as well. The only problem we had was that it was hard for the kids to see the tank because of the wall on the side of the booth(we were on an upper level).
Rating: 5.0 - 05/09 I<3EvilQueen - The View here is AMAZING. We were seated at a table right at the glass, but really that is the only good thing I can say.
The food was pretty blah, and overpriced.

Rating: 2.0 - 05/09 tohono2000 - You know, I ate here during a Wine and Food Special event and it was great. Now, if you could do that in this place instead of the God Awful Swill they do serve, I would eat here. Once again, Disney thinks serving food is a bonus...hey, how about good food. The "tired little crab cake" is gone, but it is still quite bad.
Rating: 7.0 - 05/09 MikeWD - This is an odd restaurant, tucked way in a non-descript corner of future world. We went because we heard how neat the aquarium view was. This was definitely the best part of the meal. Divers were exploring the tank and would wave to guests. The restaurant provides info about the fish in the tank -- the kids enjoyed trying to spot the different fish.
Another neat thing about this restaurant was the fact that they made a special menu with pictures we had provided via email prior to our trip. This made for a really neat keepsake.
But, alas, the food was only mediocre. Nothing special here. Pretty pricey for what you get. I guess you are paying to watch fish. Oh, boy.
Rating: 7.0 - 05/09 rn4val - Very loud so hard to talk. We enjoyed the food. The rosotto that come with our fish was very delicious. The servers were very busy so service a little slow
Rating: 9.0 - 04/09 timandlesley - We went here for our anniverary and I had called ahead of time and emailed pictures to make this a special night. They gave us a tank side table which was awesome and the personalized menu was on the table which thrilled and surprised my husband. The kids had fun using the fish finding guide on the table to locate the fish in the tanks, and the restaraunt was lovely by the tanks. The food was pretty good and the mixed drinks we ordered were good as well. We ordered Lobster bisque for an appetizer and it was just o.k. I ordered the Mahi Mahi and found it very tasty and my kids ordered the Mahi Mahi on the kids menu and they STILL talk about how much they loved this meal. My husband ordered the steak and he said it was good as well. For desert I had the chocolate wave and they brought it out with a special "congratulations" presentation which was nice. I know there are negative reviews out there for this restaraunt but for us it met our needs and thensome, we had a wonderful experience here. We were also on the dining plan so we weren't focused on how much things cost which makes a difference because it is quite pricey.
Rating: 10.0 - 04/09 Disney_Mama - This is a restaurant that myself and my children can't stop thinking about. We loved everything about it. Our food was great both times. Our service was wonderful. The view keeps the kids occupied for the entire meal. We would go back every trip.....but we enjoy trying all the restaurants.
Rating: 7.0 - 04/09 NWOhioAngela - I have visited Coral Reef twice in the last year. I really wanted to love this restaurant, but its just okay. The aquarium is gorgeous and a real draw for me, but the food is just okay. Not bad, but just pretty ho-hum and certainly overpriced for what you get.
Rating: 2.0 - 04/09 dpuck1998 - The best was to describe this place is that I won't go back. I think that says it all.
Rating: 3.0 - 04/09 nedac - I realize I will be the party popper here, but I was not at all impressed with this restaurant. It has tons of potential, but the service was atrocious and the food was truck stop quality. Our waiter would dissappear for 15 - 20 minutes at a time. We literally saw him 3-4 times during the entire meal. I am not a tough customer to please. Keep my drink full and I will be happy, but this guy couldn't even do that. After a long day in the park with a 2 year old who just had a meltdown, I was not in the mood.
As for the food, I had a steak which didn't taste terrible, but when I say it was the consitency of a leather shoe, I am not kidding. This was one of the toughest steaks I have ever consumed. For the price, it was an abomination. Eat your wallet next time and save the money.
Rating: 5.0 - 04/09 *NikkiBell* - Coral Reef is a very unique restaurant. I enjoyed our lunch there during one of our past trips. My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to get a seat directly next to the huge aquarium. This was a great surprise, but soon turned into more of an annoyance as children from tables all over the restaurant would crowd around our table to get a better view. At one point, a young boy even pushed my chair (with me in it!) to squeeze between our table and the glass. Unfortunately, our speaker was very hesitant to ask the children to move. When I told her I would be doing so myself, she did ask them to leave. It was not long before they returned again.
The food was good, but nothing spectacular. The portions were incredibly small. My boyfriend's appetizer (the land and sea combo) consisted of a small piece of beef and two pieces of grilled shrimp. When he tried to get one of the pieces of its skewer, it flew to the floor and that was most of his appetizer!
I found my entree, the grilled pork tenderloin, to be larger in size. My boyfriend's fish dish was very small.
The best part about this restaurant (other than the beautiful fish) is the dessert menu. I had the Bailey's and Jack Daniel's mousse and absolutely loved it. I did find one of the layers a bit too strong though. My boyfriend enjoyed the chocolate wave very much.
I would recommend this restaurant for a lunch if no other Epcot table service is available.
Rating: 5.0 - 04/09 fightinfire21 - We have ate here twice now. The atmosphere is great. Very unique setting with an entire wall that looks right into the aquarium. The food here is very average and nothing is noteworthy except for the chocolate wave dessert which is fantastic. Service is nothing spectacular either. I would recommend eating here at least once to experience the atmosphere and the chocolate wave. I won't go out of my way to eat here but wouldn't completely avoid it either.
Prepare to dine "under the sea" when selecting the Coral Reef Restaurant . There's an aquarium wall with 8 foot high windows with incredible views of the Living Seas. Seating is tiered which assures everyone is able to see this aquatic display. Lighting is subdued. The interior is decorated in soothing shades of blue and green which enhance the underwater effect. In addition to freshly prepared seafood, meat, chicken and vegetarian selections are offered.
