    AuroraJen309 - This was the best place(other then Cinderella's Royal Table) that my husband and I ate our whole trip. Our server was prompt and our food was out with almost no wait. Our glasses were always filled with our drinks, too. The only downfall was the Phineas and Ferb show, it was load. The biggest perk were that Fantasmic! tickets. We will be going back on our next trip.

    tndisney5 - We read many, many negative reviews of this poor little restaurant. Since we were going to be at HS on NYE and wanted to see Fantasmic! we opted for the dining package which included a meal at Mama Melrose. Since it was NYE the place was hopping, but we only waited a few minutes for our ADR. We were seated a round table (party of 4). Our server was prompt and very attentive to the children in our group. For an appetizer we had the fried calamari. It was typical. The minestrone soup was amazing as were our entrees: Chicken Campanelle and Charred Strip Steak. It was hands-down one of the best meals during our trip from the service to the food!

    Aleline - Mama Melrose is one of my favorites! This trip I was disappointed to see they too the Chicken Pippette off the menu. It was my delicious. They were kind enough to make it for me! My children, who are picky eaters, love this restaurant, too. They love the wood burning oven pizzas. The service was very attentive, as well. We did the Fantasmic dinner package and were so thrilled to be walking into the back entrance of the theater and not waiting in line forever with everyone else! A great end to a great day!

    cookietwinmama - We arrived about 40 minutes before our ADR so I checked us in. Within 10 minutes we were called. Dining room decor is fun and there was a good amount of room at our table. Our waiter, Edgar, greeted us promptly. He asked us if we were planning on going to Fantasmic (which we were but were dreading waiting in line). He then offered us the Fantasmic Dining package which gave us priority seating plus an appetizer along with our meal. Since we were on the dining plan we immediately jumped at this offer. We ordered the mussels,the tomato & mozzarella salad, and the antipasto. All were wonderful. For dinner, we got the penne ala vodka and the spaghetti & meatballs. They also did a great job accommodating our "picky child eaters". The food came out quickly and was very good. Desert was quite tasty as well. Overall, another great dining experience with the added Fantasmic Meal Package as well.

    Thee Incredibles - Can’t wait to go back! I really was apprehensive about ALL HS restaurants because of all the negativity but this one definitely deserves better reviews! The menu is posted outside and I was going to originally get the wood grilled tuna, but as soon as I saw the steak on a guests plate I quickly changed my mind! Both my dh, my 10yo dd, and I all got the Charred Strip Steak (med) and they were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! And, I know steak! The five-cheese baked macaroni was the best “mac n cheese” I’ve ever had, defiantly gourmet! My 14 dd got the Seafood Arrabbiate and that was wonderful too, I tried a few bites because it was a lot of food! I only gave it a 9 because I wanted the tiramisu but our server told us it is not the “traditional” tiramisu but more like a cake. So while I appreciated the heads up, I’d have given this place a 10 if I could have finished off my meal with my favorite dessert! TRY Mama’s!

    moonshoeskayla - I ate here for dinner with my mom one day as a spur-of-the-moment decision, so no ADR. We were told we'd have to wait 20-30 minutes for a table but actually only waited about 7, and Fantasmic was that night as well! I love how the restaurant looks - it's so cozy and cute inside. Our waitress was lovely, and we were served relatively quickly. It's too bad the food didn't live up to our expectations, though. For appetizers, we had the antipasto (would NOT recommend). Can't remember what my mom ate, but I ordered the chicken parm. It was kind of tasty and very filling; not bad, but I've definitely had much better. Some people around us ordered pizza, however, and it looked delicious! My mom and I LOVE Italian food, and we were both disappointed, but I think Mama Melrose's is at least worth a try.

    disneydorks - I will start out by saying even with ADR's be prepared to wait 30 mins to an hour for a table. (at lunch time on Fantasmic days). The food was excellent. I had the Tuna which was wood grilled perfect, loved the spices and the taste of the wood grill. Wife had the Pennie Vodka which was HUGE, she couldn't even finish it. The good thing is on Fantasmic days you need to book a specific reservation to get the deal, but with your lunch you get VIP tickets to Fantasmic you go in the back entrance and get seats which are roped off and avoid the HUGE wait for seats like you would normally have to do.

    MotherTink - Everyone in our fqmily ate a delicious variety that was geeted prompt with drink order, hot rolls with dipping sauce. Glasses never ran low and we wer stuffed when we left. We ate steak, chix pamagiana, an a dish with shrim, pas, and three cheese sause. Our third time and we would go in a heartbeat. Gave waitress a written commendation as well.

    fosm001 - We had ADR for 4 people - 2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant. The food was awful. Caesar salad, which I have never had a bad salad at Disney before, was very fishy and SMALL. Waitress, who wasn't very good, said the salad would be enough to share but yet it was less than half the size of a normal Disney salad for about the same price. Calamari was the only decent thing. Chicken parm was again VERY small and taste was ok. Waitress was not good at all. If we did not have Tables in Wonderland I would of left 10% at most for a tip. I would not recommend it at all. Save the money and go to Via Napoli or even the food court pasta at Riverside.

    mom_of_2 - We had 5:30 reservations. When I checked in (15 minutes prior) I was told that the wait would be 45 minutes after our reservation time. The service was terrible--very slow. It took the waitress 20 minutes just to get us drinks. We waited 45 minutes for our food. The food arrived before the bread. The food was ok at best. You can definitely skip this restaurant!!

    ashleighbass06 - I was excited to try Mama Melrose's but honestly, it was nothing special. I did enjoy the atmosphere, it was similar to Buca di Beppo (if you have those in your area) with the celebrity photos and memorabilia. We got there right after they opened and for some reason they placed us far in the back where we were completely alone (there were only 2 of us) making the restaurant seem empty and giving no explanation to why our waitress was so absent. I ordered the Chicken alla Parmigiana and it was very boring, much like something you would get at Olive Garden. My mom had the wood-grilled tuna and enjoyed it. If you're looking for a table service restaurant in the studios, I check out the Sci-Fi Dine in before this restaurant.

(The reserved seating - you still should be there 45 minutes prior to the show though for a great seat. The service was good. I wasn't expecting much based on the reviews on the site so it was better then expected - quantity oand quality of food was solid- not great but solid. The restaurant has a great aroma throughout.

    littlemom25 - This isn't the best restaurant, but we really love the package for fantasmic. You have to eat at 5 and the meal takes awhile, but you don't have to wait in the heat for 90 minutes for a good seat to the show. After dinner you can walk over to reserved seats right in front. If you don't plan on going on any more rides this is a really nice way to end the night. I would recommend the pizza and making your reservation 4 months in advance.

    FigmentGal96 - We had a 5pm ADR on the Sunday of the weekend after Thanksgiving. The park was busy, but not excessively crowded. We checked in on time and were seated within 10 minutes. Unfortunately, we sat at our table for at least 20 minutes before our server showed up. When he did show up he was much less than apologetic and somewhat rude. When he brought our drinks back a member of our party asked if we could have some bread, and the response that we got was "Yeah, but it's a little bit busy you know. Give me a minute." We had been seated in the restaurant 45 minutes by that time. An hour and fifteen minutes after our ADR time our food arrived. Two of us had the penne, and mine definitely wasn't warm enough. I had to wonder if it had been sitting in the kitchen waiting for our server to pick it up. We had plenty of time to observe inconsistent service all over the restaurant. Some parties came in, ordered right away, and got their food before other parties even saw their server for the first time. We saw our server accidentally dump a beverage in the lap of the woman at the table next to us. They made quite a public show of the clean up process; I felt very badly for her, and she was very gracious about it. It took us about two hours to get through our seating. Our server was downright annoyed that we were on the Dining Plan, and he couldn't divide our bill correctly (part of 2 and party of 3). We had to call a manager over to the table to ask how to handle it, and she was also much less than friendly. We asked if they were running a bit behind that night (trying to figure out if we were just having a bad server experience or if it was the restaurant), and her response was, "Well, it's just taking some time to get food out of the kitchen." The theming here was much less than I expected. We sat there long enough to go through the entire music loop- I'm not sure what was going on with that. Are the Dire Straits particularly Italian or Italian American? It didn't really come off as a Mom & Pop Italian joint; it was more like a restaurant in seach of an identity. I would not recommend this place, and it will probably be quite a while before I'll be willing to try it again.

    Dobbee69 - Visited September 2009- I had been looking for an Italian meal while I stayed at Disney. I made reservations here. This was not the place for an Italian meal. I agree with other comments, it is noisy. My husband had the chicken parm dinner it was dry and the tomato sauce was not so good. I had the mushroom ravioli and it had no flavor and the sauce/broth it was in was very watery. To many other places to try to have to go back there.

    Madi100 - This was always our favorite sit-down until we took our children. They only give the kids one red crayon. For my tired 6 year old this was enough to send her over the edge. In most Disney restaurants, I feel comfortable with my children being children. Not here. The area we were in was one long booth with several tables and chairs. So, while you aren't sitting with them, you are very close. We sat next to a couple. When we have been without children, we absolutely love this restaurant. The food is great. Unlike Tony's, this has excellent Italian food.

    PIRATEGIRL007 - Mama Melrose is a must for us every time we visit DS. We go at least once a trip, sometimes twice on longer trips. We have tried many items but especially love their eggplant parmesan rigatoni (didn't have it last time though) and their pizzas. Try the chocolate lava cake with raspberries, it is divine. The service has been iffy at times but overall I don't have a bad perception of their service. We also have had good luck at walking up to reservations at odd times at Mama Melrose, have gotten tables twice (during fall free dining time) between hours of 2-4pm. We would recommend Mama Melrose to anyone with a love of Italian food. It has a great menu with classic dishes at reasonable prices.

    PucTiger - My friend and I visited this place in 09/08 using the free dining plan. We hadn't made reservations ahead of time, but called wdw-dine to make them over the phone. We got in a little early for what I'm accustomed to for dinner (~5:00 I think), but we were seated quickly. The biggest complaint I had, really, was our particular location. Since there was only two of us, we were stuck on a small table that looked haphazardly put in a busy aisle. Besides the dark atmosphere, we sat and watched the waitstaff hurry around. The server was friendly but, again, seemed to rush through things. The server adamantly suggested the pork tenderloin with wild mushroom risotto and marsala wine sauce. I ordered this. My friend ordered the Spaghetti Fra Diavolo. The pork was cooked right, and was moist. The sauce was definitely lacking and the risotto definitely needed salt to perk it up. I think that, perhaps, they just need to add more marsala and that would have probably brought up the salt level in the dish and made it more palatable. As it was, I was somewhat disappointed. The spaghetti, however, was pretty spot on. The seafood was ample and tasty. The marinara definitely had some heat to it -- delicate palates may want to avoid this dish. We both ordered the cheesecake and thought it was pretty spot on, though obviously premade a while ago. If it wasn't for the bustle of the place and the darkness, I would have probably rated the place a little higher. The Italian here is, undoubtedly, better than what you'll find at the Magic Kingdom, but it probably still needs a few tweaks or better management.

The kids meals are great, appetizers yummy and adult pasta dishes wonderful too. We have always had an excellent experience with the servers here as well, very helpful and pleasant.     LuccaDrake - I gave this an 8 mostly because of my DBF. He loves this place. I, on the other hand, think it's okay. One good thing about Mama Melrose is that if you book the fantasmic package on the DDP you still get an appetizer, entree, and dessert. We have been here multiple times and have had some of the best servers in Disney. They are very attentive and have even taken time out to sit with us and inquire about how our vacation is going. As for the food, some of the flavors and ingredients are closer to real italian food rather than chain restaurant italian food. However, sometimes the flavors and seasonings are used too much. This is my main issue. After a few initial bites the seasoning in the food can become too much. But like I said, DBF LOVES this place. He usually sticks with the pizza though. So head on over and check it out for yourself!

    MTW - We had a good meal here and I think it's a safe bet in Disney Hollywood Studios. I had the Wood-grilled chicken with pipette pasta and they were able to put the cream sauce on the side, which I thought was great because I could "monitor" the amount of sauce my pasta was swimming in. My DH ordered the chicken parm (his staple at Italian restaurants) and declated it was "pretty good" which is about as excited as he gets. He did finish it. DS ordered the pasta with red sauce on the side, chicken soup and ice cream for dessert. We shared the tiramisu. The only real problem we had was with our ADR. We were meeting characters and were late (about 15 min.) We sent others in our party ahead and the cast member told them that we had 5 minutes to make it across the park or we wouldn't be seated. We had trouble finding the restaurant and the hostess made a big deal about how she was going out of her way to seat us... it was 6:15. Then we watched at least 4 parties come in after us and get seated. It was strange. But our server was great!

    Kimberle - We ate here one night during TS Fay. The restaurant was near empty, yet they were turning people away due to ARD's. I think most people didn't want to come out in the rain. The food was good. I had Chick parm. The chicken portion was about 6 oz, fine. But they gave me maybe 2 oz of spagatti. Spagatti is so cheap, they could at least give you a decent amount. My dd had the kids pizza. It was very small. I had the choc cake dessert. It was very good.

    Splat25 - The Artisan bread appetizer was pretty fun for all of us. It features several types of breads and plenty of different types of dips to experiment with. The pesto was only average to me while the fire roasted pepper dip was very good. It has a pleasant sweetness and rich roasted pepper flavor to it. I also really enjoyed the oven roasted garlic bulb, the garlic easily spread on the bread. It was creamy and mild, wonderful! The mozzarella and fresh tomatoes with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was also a very nice appetizer. The texture or the semi firm cheese and the freshness of the ripe beefsteak tomatoes were an excellent combination. The flavors of the tomatoes were heightened by the balsamic vinegar and the olive oil. All items were excellent quality, I would certainly get this appetizer again. DD ordered a side garden salad with her penne pasta with cheese sauce. It was perfect for her with tasty ranch dressing and large carrot and cumber slices. The pasta was good also and there was plenty to split between the two kids. It was basically a fancy mac and cheese. DD was a bit put off in that it didn’t look like mac and cheese, but after one taste she ate it up. And DS just loves to eat so no worries there! When our meals came out, a basket or warm rolls came out with it. These rolls were also served with a small bowl pepper-seasoned olive oil. The olive oil was good, but a bit strong for some. The rolls themselves were tasty, fluffy and warm. My wife ordered the Oven Baked Chicken alla Parmesan over spaghetti noodles. It was wonderful. The chicken was tender and moist with a crispy, crunchy crust. It had plenty of melted, gooey mozzarella cheese on top. The pasta was perfectly cooked. And the tasty tomato sauce was wonderful, slightly sweet and tangy – the perfect way to bring the dish together. My entrée was called “Charred Butcher Tender Steak gorgonzola butter on roasted red pepper polenta, grilled asparagus and red wine reduction”. It is a long and fancy name for a Blue cheese accented steak with wine sauce served with polenta and asparagus. The steak was cooked perfectly for medium as can be seen below in the picture I took. The presentation was very nice, although I wondered why the wine reduction sauce was on the other side of the plate. My guess is that it was to create an artistic contrast when served. The steak also had nice grilled texture on the outside while still remaining tender on the inside. The steak and wine sauce had excellent flavor and I really liked the red pepper polenta as it gave it some flavor. The asparagus was just ok, but then it’s not one of my favorite veggies, green beans or broccoli would have been better to my taste. Desserts! We were getting full by this part of the meal, but couldn’t pass up an effort to see what new dessert we would find. I ordered just chocolate. Oh happy day! It was perfectly suited for the hot and exhausting day we had experienced so far. Very smooth and creamy and exquisitely chocolate! Wanting to try something a little different, we also opted to try out the Warm Chocolate Truffle Cake. The cake was a chocolate cake with a liquid chocolate filling. Another winner for dessert, but then it’s nearly impossible to go wrong with chocolate! We ended up eating the cake with our chocolate gelato. Wow! The two together were wonderful. While the cake was good, it was much better with the side of gelato – chocolate or vanilla would both work great with this cake. My daughter’s ice cream sundae was pretty much the average table service kid’s sundae that we encountered. It had vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauces and sprinkles. It must have been satisfying since it was devoured between the 2 kids pretty quickly.

    *NikkiBell* - Mama Melrose's used to be our favorite table service in the Studios. The food was always great and the service wonderful. However, it has gone downhill over the past few years. Our last visit there was in 2006 and we will probably not return again. The food was mediocre, at best, and the service very slow. It is a shame that such a nice restaurant has lost its touch.

It is dark, cool, and a nice place to be on a hot day. We have always had decent service here too. I also enjoy watching the open kitchen where they prepare your meal. It is somewhere we will return to again on our future trips.

Brick walls, cozy booths and hardwood floors combine with overhead vines and cheeses to create an authentic and cozy atmosphere. The walls are adorned with record albums by legendary Italian singers. Red and white checked curtains provide the final touch. Bring your appetite, Mangia!
