    Mickeefan - I go to Flame Tree BBQ everytime I am in the Animal Kingdom. The most recent visit was 2/5/13. We were on the dining plan and we decided to split our meal, so we'd have more credits to use later. We got the 1/2 rack of ribs & 1/2 chicken that includes baked beans & cole slaw. The meal credit also includes a beverage and dessert. We chose the Key Lime Mousse. I also paid OOP for onion rings ($4.04), because they are great! We had a diet coke and asked for a cup of ice water. The ribs & chicken both were very tender and came right off the bone. The stations in the seating areas have BBQ sauce(s) and ketchup. I prefer the sweet & spicy sauce. We got 4 ribs and 1/2 a chicken. The chicken was very moist, not dried out at all. The baked beans didn't have a lot of flavor and I would call them BBQ beans because of what little flavor they did have. The cole slaw was fair and a little better after we added some salt. The onion rings are very good. They are done so they are crispy and the portion is large. I find them to be a great value for the money. I love onion rings and usually try them whenever they are on the menu. The Key Lime Mousse was good and a nice light way to end the meal. We walked all the way down to the seating area closest to the water with a view of Everest. It was lovely. I will definately return to this dining location!

    BFPAWG - As advertised, this place had solic bbq. I also liked its central location in the park and thought the ample seating area was particularly well themed. I was wishing for a bit wider selection. I understand gennerally why disney countersrevice does not have a broad selection, but with bbq it is not as hard to have other offerings.

    stindall - This was the best food we had for the entire week! The portions were huge and so so so good! The big big big big biiiiggg downside is the birds harassing you. Watch out, they bite!

    MNTwinsMom - Our party consisting of 4 adults and 2 kids visited Flame Tree BBQ for lunch around Noon on 1/31/12. We had no waiting to order. We ordered 4 rib meals which came with coleslaw and baked beans. We added 2 orders of fries, dessert and drinks. We used snack credits for the fries and 4 CS credits for the meals. You cannot substitute fries for the beans or coleslaw, so if you are on the meal plan you have to use a snack credit for the fries. 6 of us split the 4 meals and had more than enough food to eat. We sat next to the river with a beautiful view of Expedition Everest. The ribs were hot, tender and flavorful. Flame Tree continues to be one of the best Counter Service restaurants in Walt Disney World.

    bellebookworm9 - My roommate and I ate lunch here on 1/15 around 2pm. I was debating between the fruit plate, the ribs, or the pulled pork sandwich, but ended up deciding on the sandwich. The order came with a side of coleslaw, and I ordered the key lime mousse and a bottle of water as well. When our orders were ready, we wound our way through the seating area until we found a pavilion near the water with a lovely view of Everest. The condiment station was out of plain BBQ sauce and only had Sweet & Spicy. I was hesitant to add this to the sandwich, but it was actually very good. The pulled pork was delicious and I enjoyed the cole slaw as well. The Key Lime Mousse was good for the most part, but I wasn't a fan of the gel-gel type coating on the top. I'm glad I finally got to eat here and wouldn't hesitate to return.

    smjackson1979 - 12/11-the 7 of us ate here & loved everything. Wewalked down a short shaded path down to the water front to a covered pavilion with a condiment bar and sat right by the water and condiments in a very private setting. We always eat by 11:30 to beat the lunch rush so the line wasn't bad and moved quickly. We always let the majority of our party go ahead a get a seat while DH or I & 1 other order & carry trays. The ribs, chicken, beans, and sandwich are all great items. We got 1 rib plate, 2 rib/chik combos, and 1 sand and shared because there was so much food. DS got a cheese pizza from Pizzafari and DSS got a hotdog off the kid's menu. I added a turkey leg to the menu.

    allwdwfreaks - Not a lot of quick service options in the Animal Kingdom. We typically try all of the dining options at the parks and/or the resorts but we almost always select the Flame Tree when in the Animal Kingdom for quick service lunch. We use the DDP so it is all covered. The food (ribs, chicken, and desserts) is always good and plenty of it. Love the shaded and large dining area they have but you have to be weary of the birds; not so much that they hang out on the ground looking for hand outs but they also sit in the trees and occasionally bombs drop. I know, a little nasty, but I felt compelled to tell folks that came up and selected non-covered tables. Great place and highly recommended, but get a covered table. The staff floating around is very friendly and helpful. And there are plenty of staff around to assist you. Will continue to go here.

    thetony45 - I had read so many good reviews of Flame Tree I decided to give it a try. The line was slow moving but i was there during the lunch rush so it was to be expected. Once I got my food i had a long walk to find a table. there was an even longer walk to the cuttlery and napkins. Worst part was that people kept feeding the birds causing them to expect to always be fed. The pulled pork sandwich was good, but i dont think it lived up to all the rave reviews I've read. It was nice to have some other option than burgers with my Quick Service Dining plan though.

    preludejf - This was our first time trying Flame Tree. We really enjoyed the change! Kids had chicken and I had pork sandwich. All wonderful and no one complained. My kids do not like beans so I ordered an order of fries to be shared by kids. Birds everywhere, but we did not feed any. This is our new favorite place at AK.

    JrZyChris - This is our favorite place to eat while visiting Disney. The food is great, there are plenty of places to eat if you know where to go, several dining areas if you go to the back of the restaraunt and down some stairs to several eating areas. The birds are a big pain in the butt. We never feed them but none the less, they still peck at our legs!! I have to admit, I had the BBQ chicken salad years ago and have never ordered anything else since, but my son and husband get the ribs and love them. We hope to be back in Disney this Spring and I promised myself I would try something else :-)

    Grace4me - Best food in the AK bar none. Great servings. Love the ribs and the chicken. Great sides and choices of adult beverages to enjoy on a hot afternoon, which in AK is almost every day. Take time to enjoy this place, but find a nice shady spot, because the only place to eat is outside!

    MissBritt - I had lunch here with a friend on 3/14/2010. We both had the rib meals and enjoyed the food. The ribs were better than those in other WDW locations, the beans were dry but decent, and I even ate about half the coleslaw (I am not a fan of coleslaw). The seating was limited even for the low-to-mid level crowds, and the ducks walking through the area were not always friendly, but I would return for the food.

    kori227 - I have to say that I was really impressed with Flame Tree's BBQ. My son got the ribs and my husband got the BBQ sandwich - and I got to share both! I thought the ribs were a great value for the money (for Disney) and they were fall of the bone tender. Better than the BBQ pork, in my opinion. My husband's bbq pork sandwich was really light on pork, however, my parents also got the BBQ pork sandwiches and theirs were overflowing. The beans were so-so but the cornbread was really good. My favorite Disney counter-service restaurant by far! Oh, and my mom did make the mistake of feeding one bird and ended up with four poking at her legs while she ate. My son got to tell her "I told you so!"

    Yzerbear19 - This is my favorite counter service at Animal Kingdom. My sister and I both ordered the BBQ half chicken. I got grapes and coleslaw with mine. She got beans and coleslaw with hers. We were disappointed that they no longer offer corn muffins. The chicken was DELICIOUS!!! I ate almost all of the white meat on mine, which is someething I almost never do since I'm very picky. The portions are HUGE. I think next time we will split one meal since there is enough food for two people. The seating area is nice. It's shaded and has fans, which was nice since it was mid-90s the day we went.

    Muffin4u - We got the BBQ sandwiches which came with baked beans. My sandwich was just ok until I added some of their wonderful BBQ sauce to it. It then became on the best BBQ sandwiches I have ever had and I am from North Carolina so I know BBQ! The baked beans were also delicious. I can't wait to go back for more of that sauce! I highly recommend this place.

    chwgmjay - The bbq pork sandwich is awesome, and they have the best bbq sauce I've had in the parks here. Unfortunately, though, the service was horrible every time I've gone. I get the pork sandwich and substitute coleslaw for the beans. They always just give me the pork sandwich, and I have to repeatedly ask for the coleslaw. I think it's a flaw in their point of sale system. When it prints the ticket, it comes up with: "NO Beans" in red "Coleslaw" in black I had one food runner argue with me for over 2 minutes "It says No beans or coleslaw" "But it doesn't come with coleslaw. My receipt says sub coleslaw on it." "Well the ticket that printed says no beans or coleslaw." "No, it says 'No Beans' in red, and the coleslaw is in black." Like I said though, the food is great and more than makes up for the service, which I would rate about a 2.

    msufan - I thought that the food here was okay. It was nice to have a change from burger and fries, but the BBQ was just not good. My husband and I are big BBQ eaters, so we were a little let down. The sauce was good, but the ribs were chewy/tough. The pork sandwich was okay. Again, I probably would have liked it more, if I wasn't such a big BBQ fan normally. BTW- don't believe them when they tell you they have real sweet tea. If you are from the South, you will be insulted by this insinuation. I think it might be Nestea- Don't drink it !!!!

    r1lissa - This was a very good lunch. 10 yr old daughter had the ribs and ate every bit of it. Hubby and son had BBQ sandwhiches. I had the BBQ chicken salad, and it was great. Coleslaw was pretty good, but no one really cared for the baked beans. A lot of reviewers have complained about birds, but we only saw one mama duck with two ducklings, and they didn't bother anyone.

    luna99 - December 2008 we ate here and it was surprisingly good! I had a pork sandwich and cornbread and it was all great and I really enjoyed the outdoor seating. If you go all the way into the back of the outdoor seating you can get a great view of expedition everest as well! Beware of friendly birds who will come up to you and beg (or steal) for your food! This is pretty great fast food BBQ for theme park food!

    missminniemouse - This is a location that serves large portion sizes. The chicken comes with cole slaw and baked beans. In the past corn on the cob was a part of this meal, but it wasn't the best, so I'm glad they no longer include it. The seating area behind the Flame Tree is a very relaxing spot to sit and have your meal. We usually sit in the area where you have a nice view of Expedition Everest across the water. While the food is very good here, it is messy to eat. If you don't mind licking your fingers a little when you're done, this is a great location to try.

    stampinshauna - This is my favorite counter service in WDW. DH and I make sure to eat here each trip. I love that it is good food and something besides a burger. The bbq beef sandwich is my favorite. It is good comfort food. There is a lot of seating nearby, but during peak meal times it is crowded. We have always been able to find a seat, it just takes a few minutes of walking around.

    raftislander - We enjoyed our BBQ chicken salads, fries and onion rings. We shared two salads among three people and had more than enough. If you don't like BBQ you wont like your options here, but the food was tasty. There are ample places to sit behind the building, but it is not particularly well marked. If you dont go to one of the lines on the left you will have to fight your way over to the pathway that leads back to the tables. Many tables are by the water and many are covered -good on rainy or hot days.

    I<3EvilQueen - The food is pretty good food and not your standard theme park fare. The seating is supposedly large but widespread and makes it difficult to find your party. We where there at a busy time and it took FOREVER to find enough seats, but because of the layout we didn't see other sections that were apparently empty down by the river.

    riskysmom - This is very good bbq chicken and ribs. However, be careful while carrying your tray to a table as it can be kinda treacherous. There are a lot of different levels and cement steps. There are also birds galore walking amongst the diners. Altho there are warnings, people still "drop" food or feed them and they can get out of hand. It is a beautiful little oasis, however, to take a break.

    AllyGirl_79 - This is our choice for a meal at AnimalKingdom. The choices are large enough that some of our light eaters can share. Both the ribs and the chicken are good, though the ribs can be a bit dry, and the side dishes are great. The beans, corn bread and fries are always hot and tasty. The only problem is that everytime we visit, we seem to have issues with lots of birds in the covered seating area. I imagine people feeding the birds have made the animals rather bold, but it can be hard to eat when you're trying to keep birds away from your table.

    The Grumpus - Flametree is the only Counter Service meal we plan up front. An added bonus is the large seating area behind it. The cover is nice when the sun is beating down on you. Watch out for birds while you eat, since they expect to be fed.

    SamIAm21 - Great counter service in Animal Kingdom! I wish more places in the theme parks offered this selection. Like Cosmic Rays, the ribs or chicken entrees can be split and the fruit plate is awesome with a sweet yogurt dipping sauce that is hard to beat! Sharing an entree, drink and fruit platter costs about $20 for two people with small to normal appetites.

    peacefrogdog - Love how the food options are different from usual fast food fare. The BBQ ribs were tasty, as was the pulled pork sandwich. Kids meals are usual fare. If you're with young kids, it can be a challenge to get your tray of food, and then walk down a number of steps carrying your tray and directing young kids, down to the seating area. However once you get there, the views are awesome!

    dpuck1998 - The food here is fabulous. My favorite counter service at any park. The bbq is terrific and this is a great place for a nice lunch. There are lots of outdoor covered tables scattered in the trees and bushes to sit and relax. Walk all the way down the path and to the right is a great area over looking Expedition Everest.

    brandylouwho - This may be our favorite CS place in all of WDW. 2 meals feed my husband, 5 year old, 2 year old and myself. The flavor/quality of the food is great. Now finding a seat can be a pain (especially with 2 little kids) as there are several different terraces to check out (and walk down narrow paths. Beware the ducks that will be at your feet/touching you the entire time you are seated.

    fightinfire21 - One of the top counter service places in all of WDW. Food is all very tasty and it is a nice change from the typical burgers, pizza, and chicken nuggets that is WDW counter service. Wish they had some indoor seating as Animal Kingdom is always very hot.

    Kaa - Flame Tree has pretty good food and there are a variety of selections. The seating layout is extremely widespread and makes it difficult to find your party unless everyone stays together or sends someone back to the queue once seating is found. Because all the seating areas are not easily visible, it takes a while to find a table during busy times.


Counter Service with Outdoor Seating. There are areas in the back that are covered and provide a restful respite while dining.
