Flying Fish Information
Flying Fish will be closed for several months through late summer 2016 to be re-imagined with a new look and new menu. The menu will still offer seasonal specialties and the onstage kitchen will remain. When it reopens, the dining venue will now be known just as “Flying Fish,” dropping the Café at the end. An all-new kitchen and dining room have been designed, including an additional space for private dining events to take place.
Chef Tim Majoras will be head chef and will feature sustainable fish on the menu. A new dish from Chef Majoras will be a “Fruits of the Sea appetizer with rock shrimp and clams from Florida, grouper cheek, mussels, a splash of Brandy, and a rich lobster stock. The seafood is served over a generous dollop of velvety celery root puree.”
Stig Jacobsen is general manager and sommelier and says there is now additional wine storage, so he is working on expanding the wine list.
The AbracadaBar lounge will open next door in the previous location of the ice cream shop. This is being touted as a “curious cocktail lounge” with a “Golden Age of Magic” theme. The storyline goes that “the lounge was once a secret stomping ground for famous touring magicians, local boardwalk illusionists and the loveliest magician’s assistants of the day. After every magic show, these prestidigitators would gather at the bar, where they’d conjure up new cocktails, swap magic tips and tricks, and often stay up all night attempting to “out-charm” each other with their extraordinary illusions.”
On one of these evenings, one of the magicians disappeared and was never seen again. The lounge then sat empty for 70 years, until now, when it is back in the spotlight again.
The magicians are now gone but their magic can still be found at the AbracadaBar.
The Flying Fish Cafe
is located on the Disney Boardwalk. This popular restaurant features "New American" cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. You will also find poultry, beef and vegetarian selections on the menu. This energetic eatery has a show kitchen where guests can watch the talented staff prepare their meals using the freshest ingredients.
The decor is upscale yet lively. Rich shades of blue and red punctuate the bright interior. In keeping with its Boardwalk location, there's a decorative Ferris Wheel and Roller Coaster which provide the backdrop lighting.
Extensive wine list. This restaurant is the only one south of Philadelphia that offers the Flying Fish Brewery Company Beer.
Requests to dine at the show kitchen counter or by a window can only be made at the podium.
