Tom Sawyer Island
Open until dusk, Tom Sawyer Island is one big playground for all kids. Accessible only by raft, the island is a walk through attraction. This is a great haven to unwind where adults can sit on rocking chairs and watch the hustle and bustle of the Magic Kingdom across the Rivers of America, while relaxing amidst the shade of the great oaks, pines, red maples, elms and sycamores. Tom Sawyer Island also offers a place for kids to let off steam as they wander through the caves and play in Fort Sam Clemens.
Families can cross the barrel bridge and explore the working water wheel, follow the dirt paths and then rest on benches found scattered throughout.
Handicapped Accessibility: The Island is not accessible to guests in wheelchairs.
Tip: There are six paintbrushes hidden around the island. Bring a brush to a cast member and you could be given a Fastpass for Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
- auroralark - "Tom Sawyer Island is really a place for kids to go, run around and let off some steam. There are plenty of things there for them to explore. For adults it can be interesting to look around, but it's not really worth the time. The island also has some dark caves that may frighten some smaller kids."
- JeemaRee - "It's a great escape from crowds and sun and there are some nice nooks in which to sit and enjoy what breeze there may be but overall it's boring. I'm glad I went so I know what's there but I don't need to go back."
