A Review of Three of the New ‘Frozen 2’ Treats at Walt Disney World

Brand-new snacks have arrived (and will be arriving over the next month) at Walt Disney World in celebration of the upcoming release of Frozen 2. Yesterday, I had the chance to stop by Epcot and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa to try some of the treats that are currently available.

I first made my way to Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Epcot's Norway pavilion to try two of their Frozen 2 treats.


The first snack that I tried was the Fall Cheesecake that is being offered for $5.99. This cheesecake is lemon flavored, has a graham cracker crust, and is topped with a white chocolate Olaf and fall leaf sprinkles.


The cheesecake is light and airy with a slight hint of citrus, and the graham cracker crust was firm without being too dense. This sizable snack is easily shareable, is not too overly sweet. You might recall that, during the spring and summer of this year, a lemon cheesecake with pastel-colored layers was featured at Kringla. This is the fall version of that snack. If I had a hankering for cheesecake and a friend with me in the park, I would purchase this again. It was light and did not leave me feeling like I couldn’t continue having adventures in Epcot after eating it.


The second treat that I tried at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe was the Caramel Mousse. This treat also sells for $5.99, and is a sea salt caramel mousse with a vanilla cake crust and white chocolate coin held in place by a dollop of buttercream icing. There are white sugar pearls sprinkled over the entire dessert, and it is enrobed in glossy, aqua-colored glaçage.


This treat has a similar texture and consistency as Constance’s Wedding Cake that has been featured at this year's Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Rather than layers of cake, the majority of the dessert is a molded chocolate mousse that sits atop a thin crust of vanilla cake. The chocolate mousse has been formed into the shape of a wave, and a river of caramel sauce runs through the middle of the treat. The caramel taste is quite pleasant, and is not too overwhelming. The cake crust is very light, and I enjoyed the small dollop of buttercream icing that held the white chocolate coin in place. In fact, I found myself wanting just a bit more of the buttercream icing with this dessert. This was a unique and beautiful treat, and I would purchase it again.


I stopped by Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa to try my last Frozen 2 treat of the afternoon. The Enchanted Forest Leaves is a maple leaf shaped sugar cookie sandwich filled with maple and praline buttercream and garnished with a white chocolate coin, and is a being offered for $5.99.


This dessert is beautiful, but unfortunately, its taste does not live up to its looks. The layer of buttercream in between the two sugar cookies is quite thin. It is tasty and is flecked with brown sugar, but it is dry.


Perhaps all of my years getting Double Doozie cookie sandwiches at the Great American Cookie Company at the mall is tainting my thoughts as to what a cookie sandwich should be, but for me, this cookie sandwich fell flat. I found myself wishing that the icing inside was moist and fresh and generously portioned, but, while the taste itself was good, the treat was rather dry overall. I would not purchase this dessert a second time.

Over the next month, locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort will be debuting their version of a treat that celebrates the release of Frozen 2.
