Changes to Disney employee dress codes

Disney cast members no longer have to follow such a strict dress code. Women working at the theme parks can now have bare legs when wearing skirts; they previously had to wear pantyhose. Other changes include allowing sleeveless shirts with 3-inch wide shoulder straps and open-toed shoes. Male employees can now wear casual, untucked shirts.

After a review of Fortune 500 company's dress codes, the new rule went into place May 28. The employees affected by the change will mostly be office workers, not costumed characters.

This change is an interesting one for the company, because Walt Disney had always insisted on his employees wearing conservative, modest clothing to maintain a clean-cut look. He said that this look never goes out of style.
