Disability access lawsuit against Disney transferred from California to Florida

The California federal court grants Disney's motion to transfer Disability Access lawsuit to a federal court in Orlando.

A federal court judge in Los Angeles has agreed with Disney that the DAS lawsuit should transfer venues to the federal court in Orlando, Florida. Disney asked for the change in venue because the DAS program was primarily designed by employees at Walt Disney World. In addition, 24 of the 26 plaintiffs were not residents of California and half of the plaintiffs resided in Florida. Many of the claims allege violations of Florida law because they arose out of visits to Walt Disney World. The witnesses needed to refute or establish these allegations are more readily able to give testimony in Florida.

The ruling did not address the plaintiff's motion to add additional plaintiffs. It appears the federal court in Florida will be the one to rule on that motion.
