Disney's Flamingo Crossings developer plans seven hotels
Oct 16, 2014
More hotels have been announced for Disney's Flamingo Crossings, the property being built on the west side of property near the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. John Rubini of JL Properties Inc., who developed the first two hotels on the property, has plans to build seven hotels in the next few years. The first two, TownePlace Suites and SpringHill Suites, will open by January 2016 with 500 rooms. Two more hotels should open by 2017. Rubini mentioned that the four hotels would be open in time for the opening of Avatar Land at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Rubini said all the hotels would be cheaper than Disney's on-property hotels, though they won't offer all the amenities as Disney's current hotels either. TownePlace Suites and SpringHill Suites will cater to the Wide World of Sports athletes, with shared batting cages, basketball court and practice field.
The project was initially announced in 2007, but hit a standstill due to the poor economy.
