Disney has announced that it will open a 500 room hotel in Prince George County, MD at National Harbor.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo said in a statement ""As we began identifying possible locations to grow our business, the Washington area immediately jumped to the top of the list. National Harbor offers an array of entertaining activities for regional visitors, but it is also a family-friendly base camp, from which visitors from around the world can explore the stirring sights and inspirational stories of our nation's capital. We believe National Harbor has the unique opportunity to offer a new level of family-friendly hospitality."

No details were released regarding a projected opening date or amenities or services that will be part of the new hotel property.

It should be noted that while Disney is building hotels in Maryland and Hawaii, it's outsourcing new hotel development at Walt Disney World in Orlando. The Waldorf Astoria and Four Seasons hotels will be opening new properties at Walt Disney World in the near future.
