Walt Disney Animation has announced another movie for 2016, this one a CG-animated film called "Moana" about "a spirited teenager on an impossible mission to fulfill her ancestors' quest." Set in the South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana is searching for a fabled island and "teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore."

The character of Moana is described as "indomitable, passionate and a dreamer with a unique connection to the ocean itself. She's the kind of character we all root for, and we can't wait to introduce her to audiences."

The film will be directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, who co-directed The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Treasure Planet and The Princess and the Frog.
