Details released about Magic Kingdom's new Be Our Guest restaurant

Recently, more details were released about the new Be Our Guest restaurant in Walt Disney World's Fantasyland expansion, but this time they didn't revolve around artwork or design details. Instead, head chef Michael Deardorff shared his favorite items on his establishment's upcoming menu, thus giving fans a sneak peak into what will be served at this unique location. The restaurant's three dining rooms will hold nearly 500 guests and will serve quick service meals for lunch and table service meals for dinner. However, lunch will be unlike any other quick service location on property in that you will order your food and then have it delivered to your table on china plates instead of the usual paper. About the menu, Deardorff says, "It's all about simple, fresh ingredients. Just like your favorite quick-service restaurants across Magic Kingdom Park, you'll be able to enjoy sandwiches and salads at Be Our Guest Restaurant for lunch, but all with a twist that transports you to the French setting of 'Beauty and the Beast.'" Among some of the items revealed on the Disney Parks Blog are a "Croque Monsieur sandwich with carved ham, Gruyere cheese, bechamel and pommes frites" and a sandwich of carved turkey on a baguette with Dijon mustard. Other offerings include a tuna Nicoise salad, grilled steak sandwich with garlic butter spread, braised pork and vegetable quiche.

Table service dinner continues the French bistro theme with a large selection of appetizers including a "salad trio with three mini tastes of roasted beet, raisins and orange; green beans, tomatoes and roasted shallots; and watermelon, radish and mint." For the main course, guests can choose anything from au gratin pasta, rotisserie rock hen with roasted fingerling potatoes, pan-seared salmon in leek fondue, grilled strip steak, sauteed shrimp and scallops with vegetables in puff pastry with creamy lobster sauce or oven-baked ratatouille. Options for kids are a little different than the standard chicken fingers and fries that are readily available across the park. Youngsters can choose from Mickey meatloaf, seared mahi mahi and whole-grain macaroni with marinara sauce.

While no official opening date has been announced (press releases have simply said the restaurant will be open for the "holidays"), reservations will be taken sometime in late August.
