Orlando prepares for Tropical Storm Fay
Aug 18, 2008

Orlando's government agencies have swung into action preparing for the arrival of Tropical Storm Fay.

The emergency managers are assembling supplies should a disaster strike and are encouraging residents to have a three day supply of basic items.

In anticipation of potential flooding, Orlando residents may pick up sandbags from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and from 8 - 11 a.m. Tuesday at the city's Stormwater Facility at 1010 Woods Ave. Orlando residents must have proof of residency to get the bags and there is a 10 bag limit per vehicle.

The water levels at Lake Lucerne and Cherokee are being lowered in order to prepare for the possible heavy rainfall.

All trash removal in Orlando is suspended on Tuesday. The city has an Emergency Hot Line for residents with non-emergency calls. The number is 407-246-4268 and will be staffed from 4 to 8PM on Monday and as needed on Tuesday.
